Blue Lantern

"In fearful days, in raging night,
With our hearts full, our faith ignite.
When all seems lost in this World of Blight,
Look to the stars, for Hope Burns Bright!"

Name: Laura Wren Jett
Aliases: Blue Lantern
Age: 21
Physical Description: Laura is tall, but rather skinny. Having fully grown before the bombs dropped and her accident, she is wirey in frame, pointing to her past as an athlete that she has had to long leave behind. Even if those days are behind her, she still keeps up the blonde pixie hair cut she got so used to. Most noticably, she tends to wear asymetrical clothing as a result to her asymetrical body, primarily wearing shirts with one long sleeve and the other side completely sleeveless, and the same going for jeans cut off one leg as shorts. The latter however is clear, as she is missing her left leg from the thigh down. With her ring active she creates herself a Blue Light construct replacement, but it still stands out.

Biography: Laura doesn't know what it means to be the Blue Lantern. All those tales told plenty of the fabled Green, but what could the Blue do? She had learned the basic abilities that the ring gave her, but without much besides some tiny stories told verbally, there wasn't much. She had to rely on the stories of the Green Lantern to get the hang of things. But the source of her power, that comes easy. Hope isn't easy for everybody, so she finds the strength to inspire. She hopes for a beautiful future, and that is her source. And she will show people that it's more than possible.

History: Laura was raised alone by her mother to simply be her best self, to know that no matter what life threw at her she could overcome, using her own life as an example. Her father died four months before she was born, and in turn nearly drove her mother in to a miscarriage, with Laura's survival being the first line in many of how the girl could overcome hardships. Her childhood was far from unique, she helped take care of her mother when she was taking two jobs to get them by, and had her own little friendship circles. She was an average academic student. But she was the school's star relay runner come high school.

College would have been a breeze, she was nearly 18, and ready to be scouted for schools who needed an all star athletics team. But then the bombs dropped. Those first few days became a blur for Laura. Her mother was MIA, most of her team dead or injured. But many owed her their lives. Those who were there spoke of her thinking without moving. Her speed gave her an edge, but also her fall. The source of her fuzzy memory comes from running across a debris field for a little girl. She didn't know where her mother was, and neither did the little girl. And she had her priority. The girl was saved, and her mother found, but in the process Laura lost her leg from infection. When she awake she would tell everybody it was worth it. But the world was going to hell.

She remained safe for over a year in the hospitals. She couldn't help on the medical side, but she volunteered to be there for the children. Telling them all the stories she knew to keep their hopes up. Because while the world went to hell around them, Laura felt in her heart that humanity would rebuild stronger. And then the ring. A girl in a blue dress was at the foot of her bed one night, a little box left behind, and inside was the ring. Laura never saw the girl again, or get an answer where she came from. The Ring merely told her she was chosen.

Powers:
Blue Hard Light Construct Creation: Through the power of the ring and the user's Hope of a certain outcome, the wielder of the power ring may form anything that they might picture in their minds eye out of light.

Hope Empowerment: Just being within close proximity of an active Blue Lantern can negate the effects a standard Red and Orange Lantern Rings might have on a person, bringing them back to their natural states.

Willpower Enhancement: Whilst a powerful emotion itself, Hope is a component in empowering a Green Lantern's Willpower. Whilst it won't make the Blue Lantern stronger, the Green Lantern wielder will find their powers stronger.

Cellular Regeneration: A unique property of the Blue Lantern Ring is it's ability through the Light of Hope to scan and repair damage to an individual, repairing damage at the cellular level. This is possible to repair up to breaks at any time, taking some time, however with the presence of a Green Lantern this ability is heightened to the point of being capable of regenerating limbs.

Sentient AI: The ring holds within it a sentient Artificial Intelligence allowing it to communicate with the wielder and act as a source of information.

Flaws/Weaknesses:
Willpower Symbiosis: For as powerful the emotion of Hope and the Blue Light it embodies, it's capabilities are limited in strength without the presence of a Green Lantern's aura of Will. As she has yet to meet the Green Lantern, she is unaware she could be more powerful.
- Her Constructs are weaker than they could be, sustaining defence against gun fire but enough will shatter, as well those possessing super strength. (a run in with a possessor told her that limit)
- She can regenerate cuts in seconds, and breaks over minutes to an hour, without the presence of a Green Lantern. (once she learns this, she will likely realise she can regenerate her lost limb)

Lack of Knowledge: The Blue Lanterns are much less known to people at large, meaning she knows of her ring only what she can experiment with, and uses an entirely different hero story as a basis.

Ring necessities: Without her ring's power, she is just an average amputee human.
