Background: Edward Kelley was John Dee's partner in Magickal matters, and the other person the supposed Angels gave visions to of one half of the Enochian language. Edward was a more gifted Seer than John, a fact Dee fully admitted and embraced. The two headed for the European Contenant, looking for work as Magickal consultants. They caught the attention of a German Baron who employed them for a time, but the Church also heard of their ctions and demanded they defend themselves. They had to go see a Bishop appointed to look into the matter, and in his letter to Rome he spoke very highly of Dee; John had handled his questioning with tact, decorum, politeness, and care. Edward on the other hand was a jackass of the first order; he was snide, insulting, implied the Bishop was a simpleton unbale to grasp even easy concepts, and almost got thrown out of a window which was an actual thing done at that time and place.

Kelley fancied himself an alchemist and fully believed he could turn metal into gold if given the time and funds to properly research it, but Dee used him exclusively as a Seer and kept insisting Edward commune with the supposed 'Angels'. Kelley grew so sick of it that he told John that the 'angels' ordered them to share everything, including their wives. John did cut off all future dealings with the 'angels' as Edward had hoped for, but Dee also agreed to share his wife.

Dee's wife gave birth to a boy, and though there was a chance it was actually Edward's John raised him as his own; there was no problem amoung the families about the child's blood relations, and Kelley acted like the kid was Dee's as it might actually have been.

Eventually Dee returned to England, though Edward stayed in Europe hoping to find a patron to support him. He returned to the German Baron who was very pleased to give him a place in his court, and even knighted him. Eventually Kelley claimed he could produce gold from metal, but for two years failed to do so. The Queen of England's Court heard the same claim, and tried to get Edward to return there. The Baron threw Edward into prison on made up charges, scared he'd run off and use the research the Baron had paid for to make gold for someone else. After promising to only make gold for the Duke, Edward was released. He ended up behind bars a second time, for killing someone in a duel.

Edward died in prison.

Kelley had a stepdaughter which he taught his ways and skills to, but she wasn't his by blood. There was a 50% chance Dee's son was actually fathered by Edward, but the boy wasn't claimed by Kelley and was by Dee, and both family's accepted John was the kid's dad.

So, despite her claims, there's a very strong chance Samantha is related to Edward's stepdaughter and NOT Kelley himself.
