Luna

Description: Luna is a woman standing at an impressive 6' 4" in height, and tipping the scales at 210 lbs. She has no hair, and pale blue eyes that some followers of Voodoo claim to be a mark of the Iwa. While her white skin is pallid in appearance, she seemed to be in robust health. Her body is muscled and bares marks of growing up in the tough environment of a swamp for the majority of her life, the most noticeable of these are a mass of scars on her lower legs earned from a gator attack when she was a child. She tends to go nude or as close as she can manage to feel nature on her skin, opting for a wetsuit in public waters while donning a tank top and cut off shorts on land with no bra or panties. She wears no shoes, the thick soles of her feet rendering them unneeded in most places. Her large hands are strong and calloused, partly due to playing her adoptive father's silver string guitar growing up that he got from a friend named John. She has a homemade tattoo given to her by her father on the upper part of her right arm; an Agassou, a symbol of ancestry, home, and family; she got this in the final years of Ruben's life, so she would forever remember the kind man who saved and raised her, and always feel connected to him.

Psychological Evaluation as ordered by Sandra Dee: Mary James, or Luna as we're all more familiar with calling her, seems to prefer Sandra's company overall to anyone else in the group; this is not strange or unexpected, as both of them come from a wandering background where they fended for and took care of only themselves. In the same way Dee searches for the next monster to defeat, Luna looks for the next wave to conquer. However, I believe the likeness goes deeper than this; Sandra is very clearly an Alpha personality, so much so that both of her wives are called 'Betas' and the group in general refers to Sandra as the Alpha. From what I have witnessed so far to date, Mary is very much also of an Alpha mindset, and I think this similarity draws her to our Huntress because of a sense of familiarity, whether is acknowledged consciously or unconsciously. While this might be good grounds to form a friendship between the two, I strongly doubt Luna will end up joining the Pack; the group dynamic between Sandra, Susan and Eunice is very much like that of wolves, which is why we as a group have nicknamed them 'The Pack'. While an actual wolf pack does allow for two Alphas, I believe Dee is happy with her position as the only one, and while she doesn't mind sharing the bodies of her Betas, their hearts and love could very easily be another and much more serious matter. Likewise I believe if Luna established herself as an Alpha in her own right, she might not like to share the position either. Though I would not be surprised in the slightest if she ends up eventually with a Beta of her own, at some point.

While Both Luna and Sandra have Alpha personalities that could possibly lead to conflicts, I do not at this time believe this to be pf any issue to worry about. Sandra was very grateful to Mary for helping Susan during a fight with a monster which she has shown on multiple occasions, and she has also tried to encourage, support and respect Luna's Nudism lifestyle as much as possible. Luna in turn has responded to these actions in a positive manner, and while she has tried to downplay her part in Susan's recovery and insisted numerous times that Sandra's show of thanks is enough, she has not taken advantage of Dee's good graces, nor has she tried to establish herself as an Alpha in the group, let alone THE Alpha as Sandra is and always shall be. She even allowed Sandra to take her virginity, though I fully believe this was in a show of mutual respect more-so than any admittance of subservience.

While living on her own and traveling the country for the five years on her own, and growing up in the swamps of Louisiana might hint that she is not well adjusted to companionship, but this could not be farther from the truth. She seems warm and open to everyone in the group, and honest in joining in on our quest to defeat the various horrible supernatural problems that plague a woefully ignorant population.

While she was a little jumpy a couple of days after almost being killed by her first monster, I have no doubt that Luna will recover from this and be a good and solid addition to the team. Plus she is very skilled with her antiquated firearms, which we can never have too much of.

End Evaluation

History: In the Louisiana Bayou, a swamp rat by the name of Ruben James was out hunting frogs to put in his gumbo. He stumbled across a baby girl left alone in the wilds, and took her back to his shack with him. He had no wife or children, and the infant made him so happy he named her Mary (Merry).

Mary grew up in the swamp, never attending school but learning all her adoptive father could teach her about surviving off the land, hunting, fishing, and such. She grew tall and strong, becoming what some might call 'Amazonian' in appearance. She oddly never grew hair on her head or anywhere else, leading the young men who dwelled in the Bayou to mock and make fun of her; this lasted until she started fighting them, learning skills like informal boxing and wrestling in the process. James was a local guide and Voodoo Healer, talents he also imparted to the girl.

Ruben noted the odd things about his daughter, and suspected she was a gift to him from the Iwa; he taught her about them as well, including making offerings of tobacco, fresh fruit, and rum. As a child she was attacked and bragged into the water by a gator, an encounter she survived. Her legs were badly injured, requiring James to use his talents to heal them. Afterwards she could not only walk, but run with a supernatural swiftness; Ruben told her the Iwa had blessed her, which he fully believed. She also displayed an attachment to the night and water, leading to the nickname Luna.

James wasn't young when he found Mary, and he only grew older as she did too. Eventually his health declined to the point she needed to help him ge tthrough his day, and then Baron Samdei called him in the year of 1980; following his beliefs, the young woman wrapped his body in oil skins weighted with rocks, and sunk his remains in the black waters of the swamp.

Without her father the Bayou no longer felt like home, so Luna packed what little there was to her name and set out to wander the world.
