Marel has pale blue-gray skin, long silvery emerald green hair, and blue-green eyes.  She is very tall for an aquatic Elf, standing at 5 ft 11 inches talland weighing 153 lbs.  She wears blue mage robes that are a bit too big for her and obscure her figure.

Marel is quiet and reserved at first, but watches others and looks for ways to serve, and her quietness hides both a keen mind and a kind heart.  Although she freely admits she comes from the town of Westguard on the islands that comprise the Duchy of Paron, she tends to be cagey when speaking of other details from her past.  She is especially reserved around men and may be fearful around men she does not know, although those who stand for justice and honor do not seem to scare her quite as much.  At times her eyes have a haunted quality, as though there is something she would very much like to forget, but cannot quite seem to, and she occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night from nightmares.

In terms of her more mundane traits, she misses being near the ocean and will taken any opportunity available to her to bathe in water, even fresh water.  If she can swim in it, she is even happier.  Her playful side is most likely to emerge when she swims, or when she plays with her faerie dragon familiar, Skarlax.

In Westguard, she was in service to a noble and spent her life using her magic to support his men in battle.  She knows absolutely nothing of her Elven heritage, or the customs of Elves, or how to properly honor her chosen god, Deep Sashelas, and is hungry to learn as much as she can about those topics.
