Name: Raelle Pellegrino, a Rugged Delve who Explores Dark Places

Description: Raelle (Ray-elle) is short (5'1" in shoes), slim, and athletic.  She has long dark brown hair, which she normally wears up and out of her way or braided, and olive skin.  On most days, she wears simple utilitarian clothing in dark blues, greens, and grays.  While exploring, she wears tighter fitting clothing that can withstand almost any tears or damage from the area around her.

Background: Raelle had always been a precocious child, always going places she shouldn’t and finding things others would prefer she didn’t. She spent most of her early life living with her parents and other Amber Gleaners as they traveled the known – and not as well known – parts of the Ninth World. It is no surprise that this led to not an inconsiderable amount of trouble. Her actions caused one of the Gleaners in the caravan to be killed.
Only later, when she was older and remembered more about what happened, she would realize the consequences of her actions.  In the end, this was when she stopped traveling with her parents, and she went live with her maternal grandparents.  Her parents hoped she would learn to redirect her curiosity to potentially less dangerous pursuits there.
Her grandparents lived in a small isolated village and worked as farmers.  There, Raelle learned all about the flora and fauna of the Ninth World.  She was seldom seen without some sort of critter on her or tagging along.  And here is where she grew up.  Her parents would occasionally visit, bringing her gifts they found, until they stopped coming one year.
After many years, Raelle grew old enough to join the Amber Gleaners.  While she worked for them, mostly alone, she began to know What Others Fear to Know and became very proficient in searching the dark places of the Ninth World.  She also learned about what happened to her parents but is still working to make restitution for the life that was lost when she was a child.  She will occasionally visit her grandparents, but she spends most of her time on the road.
Now, Raelle has chosen to help a small community grow while gathering as much information so she can start her own Field Station.  Perhaps she can even settle down and start a life in one place.

Fun Facts:

• Raelle’s handwriting is so bad she almost never submits anything in her own hand to the Gleaners.  At least, nothing she wants other people to read.
• She has a pet Huntri who was named Joshua but prefers to be called Nancy and wants people to respect his life choices (Doctor Who reference).  Raelle is also training an armored sloth named Sven to help her salvage Numenera.
