Dephas Adir-Raamse

Name: Dephas Adir-Raamse (True-name: Jashad)

Occupation: Painter (in training for Sajanga-master)

Actual Age/Apparent Age: 51 / looks to be in his mid-20s

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Omnisexual

Race/Species: Akhe Hessa (Desert Viper/Naga)

Appearance: Human form - In this form, Dephas is a tall, lean individual, standing roughly at 6'1", with lightly tanned skin, tousled and somewhat curly dark hair, reaching his shoulders, and warm brown eyes. He sports facial hair on occasion, but not often. Like most of his kin, he prefers wearing concealing clothing in the colors of his tribe, usually dressing in various flowing robes, typical for desert-dwellers.

Naga form - Above the waistline, the only thing truly changing on Dephas is the color of his eyes, which go into a bright golden-brown color, with reptilian slits down the middle. The lower part of the body turns into a lengthy serpentine tail, with gleaming, dark scales with an iridescent effect, which makes them wash over in various colors as light breaks upon them. The 'belly' part is a stark white color and has the same effect, though to a much less noticeable extent.

In both forms, the markings on the upper part of his body are painted in thin, silvery lines, catching the light, much like his scales do.

Personality: A "brooding artist" in the truest sense of the expression, Dephas may seem, like all Nagas, calm and aloof on the surface, but deep within wrestles with a certain restlessness, atypical to his kind. Though he is exactly where he is "supposed to be", fulfilling his tribe's requirements of him, even going as far as accepting training for the highest honor possible a "Dephas" might have bestowed upon him, he feels somehow "stuck" in the role assigned to him and strives for more.

Despite this, Dephas is generally a kind individual, perhaps slightly more open-minded and more willing to go against tribe rules - a trait he shares with his first cousin, The Jeweler.

Abilities/Skills:
Desert Viper - Something all Nagas share, Dephas has the ability to deliver venomous bites, due to his Naga form having a pair of retractable fangs, usually tucked away under his upper lip, the tips still visible when he speaks or smiles. Another common thing would be the lengthy mass of pure muscle that is serpentine lower body, capable of great speed, mobility, and strength.

Painter - Born into an artistically inclined family, Dephas has the ability to create wondrous, detailed, and life-like paintings, usually sold for ridiculous amounts of money to well-off patrons of the arts and his work hangs in many a noble's homes all over the continent. However, unlike many of his tribe, he is what they call a "stationary artist", meaning that he almost always paints at home and doesn't venture beyond the borders of his land, thus making any desiring a unique painting made have to come to him.

Magic-practitioner - Being born male, Dephas has the ability to dabble with magic, though in a specific way - one which allows him to mix it with the paints he uses and create paintings that actually move, depending on the type of lighting shined upon them. He is also in training to become a Marking-painter, meaning he'd have the ability to etch the "Sajanga" markings onto members of his tribe.

History: Ever since he could remember, Dephas felt somewhat detached from his people. Like he was somehow stuck in a role he wasn't really meant to be in. For many years, he dealt with it the best he could, partially ignoring it, partially distracting himself with other things, but as he went on in age, the feeling grew until he could barely stand to look himself in the mirror and it began causing friction between him and the members of his tribe.

He shared his concerns with his first cousin and peer, "the Saroya" and upon her suggestion, ventured to Al-Jalasa in search of inspiration and purpose, hoping that spending time among the colorful residents of the desert city, he'd be able to make his art more alive than ever before.

Unfortunately, on his way there, he had gotten tangled with some slavers and is, at the moment, in the custody of the Sisters.
