Zander

Name: Zander

Occupation: Researcher/Scholar

Actual Age/Apparent Age: Unknown/ 30-ish

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Hetero

Race/Species: Human?

Appearance: Zander stands tall with well-kept hair, just long enough for the ends to betray the possibility of curls, usually leaving him with a mussed look. Warm caramel brown eyes have the habit of watching and learning. More often than not, the barest hint of a smirk plays at the corner of his lips. Though, only when he smiles does the faint scar reveal itself, lightening against the edge of his lips, angling down towards his chin, where the skin doesn’t quite stretch the same on one side as the other.

Broad shoulders lead way to a trim figure, neither large nor small, often found with at least one book on his person, be it in his hands or attached at his belt somewhere. A small bluish bulb sits at his waist as well, sometimes glowing softly, but never far away as one never knows when he might need a touch more light to read by. Long legs finish out his features, often clad in soft boots that allow his steps to whisper along, maintaining a quiet about him even in halls that tend to echo.

Personality: Zander craves knowledge. He is constantly reading something striving to learn just a touch more in hopes of finding the answers he seeks. He is often found buried in the dusty shelves where forgotten books might be kept in hopes that they might hold the clues to eternal life he is constantly searching for. While often serious, Zander is not above a gentle tease here and there, often shown in the barest smirk touching the corners of his lips. He tends to walk softly, keeping his baritone voice soft.

Unless, of course, one gets him talking about something in which he is passionate. Then, Zander seems to come to life, animatedly explaining whatever topic, from what he has learned to the theories he might hold, unafraid to show his excitement on the matter at hand. He will always want to know the bits of knowledge one is willing to share, offering his own takes and opinions on the topic in return.

Abilities/Skills: Research. Zander is rather adept at figuring out which titles might hold what bits of information, and incredibly well versed in reading between the lines of text, picking out bits of knowledge others might have overlooked. He tends to understand obscure facts, and little known pieces of how the world works. He rarely judges others, choosing instead to allow them to express themselves, understanding that the world is viewed through a series of experiences, each coloring the views of those involved in different layers until two people experiencing the same situation may see it or feel about it differently than the other.

History: Zander has spent the better part of all the time he can remember searching out information on the world. Spending time in various libraries, covering his clothing in a thin layer of dust from forgotten books scattered through the land. His search seems endless, spanning far long than anyone’s should, and yet, if asked, he will merely smirk, offering not much more than a desire to learn as answer to what he searches for.

Very few have learned the subject he searches out the most, from how it might be obtained, to why some have it bestowed on them while others do not. Various views from it being a blessing to a curse, and anything he can possibly know about it. His search is nearly feverish, but he knows he has time. Far too much of it, in fact.

This desire for knowledge led Zander to a library one day before he learned of his plight, where he came across a woman with eyes the color of lightning willing to strike up a conversation about a book. From there, the various views of books and information blossomed into something much, much more. Yet, in the end, their ways parted, much to the heartache of both involved. He had learned her secret, and kept it as close as his own, divulging nothing about her, even after their paths parted.

After, he found himself wandering the lands for far longer than any person should, causing his shift for knowledge to turn down different paths, searching topics relating to immortality, what might cause it, how one might obtain it, who might bestow it on another, and how he might break it. The loss of the woman he’d met drove his mind into dark places as he grieved for the loss of her brilliant mind to challenge his, her wit to tug at his own, and her own desire to learn more.

He found his way into Al-Jalasa, searching out the library there after learning it might hold books he hadn’t come across yet, the potential for answers drawing him, too bright a possibility for him to pull away from the path, though, little does he know the woman he thought lost to him for so long had found her own way to that very city.
