Physical Traits:
Andren is tall with an athletic, muscular build. In spite of this, he is actually quite nimble. He has dark, brown hair and a beard that he keeps neatly trimmed. He also has blue eyes. Because of being a hedge knight, Andren has quite a few battle scars. He has one large scar on his abdomen and several other smaller scars from cuts on his torso and back. He has moderately large scars on his right shoulder and left thigh.

Attire:
Most of the time Andren wears his bronze half plate armor with his bastard sword on his left hip and dagger on his right hip on his sword belt. For attending feasts and other events where armor is not appropriate, the clothes he has are older, out of style, and slightly faded. They are presentable but it is clear he has no real wealth. Andren tries to have some red or black in his clothing selection due to those colors being present in his coat of arms.

Personality:
Andren has a friendly and generally optimistic point of view. He tends to see the best in people which can make him appear a little naïve at times. It can be said that he rarely meets someone he truly dislikes. Andren is a brave and courageous fighter. He has, at times, inspired those fighting with him because of his courage and ferocity displayed in battling his foes. Andren firmly believes in justice and fair treatment for all, especially the small folk. Along with this belief is the belief in treating others with respect, again no matter of station. Because of his humble origins and currently humble means, Andren tends to display great humility.

Skills/Education:
Andren squired for an old hedge knight Ser Rodwald so he gained many martial skills there. He learned the skills of horsemanship, fighting from horseback; fighting with lance, sword, and shield; fighting on foot; and battle tactics. Andren was able to learn some basic etiquette from attending tournament feasts that Ser Rodwald had him attend. Due to his intelligence and excellent memory, Andren has a vast repertoire of tales, historical knowledge, and songs. He can be quite entertaining after he has a few ales in him!

History:
Andren’s family has traced their ancestry back to the extinct House Frost from the time of the First Men. House Frost was vanquished by the Kings of Winter (House Stark). Growing up, Andren’s father was a butcher and his mother was a seamstress. Andren’s father would tell the children stories of the Old Gods, First Men, and Children of the Forest. His father would also tell the history of how House Frost was vanquished and ceased to exist as a formal house. To this day, Andren remembers all these stories in exact detail.

Andren’s two older sisters were married to men who were farmers. His sisters’ families and his parents all still live in a small village not too far from Long Lake. As a favor to his father, Ser Rodwald, a hedge knight, accepted Andren as a squire. Andren was 14 years old at the time. During these years, Andren helped Ser Rodwald at tournaments and battles in which the knight fought. These provided valuable learning experiences to him. As a squire, Andren actually fought in the battles as well and improved his own combat skills.

When he was 22 years old, at the end of a battle with Iron Born raiders, Ser Rodwald was grievously wounded. Before he died, Ser Rodwald made Andren a knight in the presence of the band of warriors they had fought with. For the next 2 years, Andren traveled around and would help the small folk rid themselves of bandits bothering them. At Rowan’s Village, Andren had a fierce battle with bandits. During the fight, he personally killed 6 out of 9 bandits before being slashed across his abdomen. The villagers were able to drive of the remaining 3 bandits. They allowed Andren to rest their until he was healed and began calling him, “The Guardian of Rowan’s Village”.

After he recovered from his wounds, Andren began to go to tournaments but for several years would only participate in the melee so he wouldn’t lose his horse and equipment. Finally, at the age of 25, he began participating in the joust as well at tournaments. Andren would usually have a decent showing and win enough matches so when he finally lost he was able to ransom his equipment back. He was beginning to develop some reputation as a Tourney Knight. Two year ago, when he was 27 years old, Andren only needed to make it through 3 more opponents to be the champion of the tournament but took a piece of a broken lance deep in his left thigh and was unable to finish. Then two years after that, at the age of 29, Andren only needed to win 1 more match in order to be the tournament champion. This time, his opponent’s lance tore a deep slash in his right shoulder. Unfortunately for Andren he was again unable to finish. This time either.
