Corinne Acacia

I promised I'd be good
But I can't help myself from these temptations
When they call, there's nothing I can do
I promised I'd be good
The road to hell is paved with good intentions
So when I fall, I will fall to you

The Basics
Name: Corinne Acacia
Nickname: Rinn
Age: 34
Species: Human

The Appearance
Weight: 140 lbs
Height: 5'6"
Physical Description: Rinn is of slender build, slight but strong. She is fit and lithe, with not much in the way of curves. She has light blond hair, cut short, close at the sides and just a bit longer on top. Her eyes are a honeyed brown. She has sharply angled features.
Distinguishing Features:
Rinn prefers to dress practically. She prefers clothes that allow her to move and go about unnoticed. She keeps to neutral colors, form-fitted fabrics, and will almost always choose pants to anything with a skirt. Rinn has no piercings, rarely wears any jewelry, and never wears make-up. She is comfortable in her looks, but finds it easier to go about her business without drawing unnecessary attention. She walks with a casual confidence and can often be found with a slight smirk on her lips.

The Human
Personality: Rinn finds it best to keep to herself. Aside from her brother, Jasper, Rinn doesn't have many close relationships. When people matter too much, that's when you get hurt. It's when things can be leveraged against you. And love is just never worth it. Her brother means the world to her though, and she would do anything for him. Rinn is a loyal person by nature, and deep down, would kill for a purpose that she could truly serve that is larger than herself. But her distrust of others using her or her brother prevents her from ever letting herself care too much.

Rinn is confident in herself and her small skill set. She can come off as arrogant, though it is more of a shield than anything else. The world is a dangerous place. People will trick you if you let them. Best to always maintain a healthy distance so you never lose the upper hand. Information is important to Rinn. She tries hard to never forget a face or a name. You never know when it will come in handy.

Despite her maintaining an emotional distance, Rinn works well with others. She enjoys a stiff drink and makes a fairly good listener. You never know when you'll learn something useful.

Mundane Skills: Lock picking, skills with a knife, and some basic hand to hand combat. Not too bad at pick-pocketing.

Occupation: Rinn used to be a thief, but is currently without work.

Goals: Rinn is on a quest for purpose. Her only goal used to be to protect herself and her brother, but since the events that left her separated from her sibling, Rinn has come to realize that the life she’s chosen is rather lonely. Instincts of self-preservation are hard to ignore, but Rinn is tired of working under someone who is unworthy. She is looking to serve a greater purpose.

Fears: Ultimately, Rinn fears losing something that truly matters to her. And up until now, the only person she really feared losing was her brother, and he seems all but lost to her now. This fear is also the reason why she keeps people at a distance. Can't lose something if you never allow yourself to be attached to begin with. She also hates spiders.

The Story
Character Background: Rinn and her brother Jasper grew up together in the foster system. Though they don't share parents, they've always treated one another as siblings. Once they were old enough to be on their own, they got drawn into a life of crime. Mostly petty theft and peddling in small-time drugs and black market items. Most recently, Rinn and Jasper wanted out of their current gang and to start fresh. While looking for a way to make a clean break, Rinn discovered that the men above her were involved in human trafficking and were looking to expand. Though every instinct within her told her to run and protect herself and her own, she knew she could never walk away and leave innocents to suffer. Whether she wanted to be or not, she was involved. She didn’t warn Jasper ahead of time, afraid he would try to talk her out of it, but at the first opportunity, she turned herself in along with all the evidence she had gathered that would deliver a final blow to the organization she’d been a part of for most of her adolescence and a piece of her adulthood. She wasn’t there for the raid, having already turned herself in, and from all the information she could gather, her brother Jasper had not been apprehended. She had no idea where he was or if he was safe. And despite her offer to submit evidence and testify against the other gang members, Rinn’s list of crimes was too long to keep her out of prison. She would be in jail for a long time.

How did you come to be at the Island?: Six months into her sentence and still no word from Jasper, Rinn was beginning to lose hope of ever hearing from him again. Most of the organization had been captured and in various levels of prosecution, but not everyone. Rinn feared more than anything that her choice meant that Jasper would eventually be caught and used as retribution for her betrayal. For all she knew, he was dead already. And then, when an invitation arrived, promising to take her away from her life in prison to a paradise, it seemed impossible. Probably some dream she’d created in her mind to escape. So she accepted, not realizing that it was real. Perhaps her life wasn’t over. Perhaps she would get her second chance.
