Rayden Perunaxos

The Basics
Name: Rayden Perunaxos
Nickname: Ray
Age: 1687 years, but human form looks around 27
Species: Dragon

The Appearance: Human Form
Weight: 265lbs
Height: 6'7"
Physical Description: Ray in his human form is a tall, suave man with short but shaggy windswept hair, brown with few streaks of lighter colour. He has tanned skin, black eyes, bushy eyebrows and a short-trimmed full beard framing his sharp jawline. Ray is quite a muscular man with a light carpet of bodyhair, thick enough to cover his chest and run down his abs but not thick enough to obscure skin.
Distinguishing Features: Ray often dresses in jeans, v-neck shirt and leather jacket. In casualwear, he'll opt for a simple tank top and jeans. He has a scar running diagonal across his left shoulder where the skin is a lighter pink. He also wears a couple of dogtags around his neck.

The Appearance: Dragon Form
Weight: 3500lbs~
Height: 60ft~
Physical Description: In his dragon form, Ray is a huge, red-scaled dragon with white scales down his underside. He has a powerful non-prehensile tail as well as wings that span a length that's double his height when completely unfurled. The leathery webbing is streaked with blue veins that give the impression of lightning. He has blue horns as well as spines running down his back from his head to the trident-tip of his tail. There are also long blue spines protruding from his forearms and along the bones of his wings.
Distinguishing Features: The most distinguishing features of his dragon form, other than his appearance entirely, would be the red scales contrasted with the blue horns and spines. He has sharp claws and fangs and his electric blue eyes would look like they glow in the dark.

The Human
Personality: Ray is a very carefree, sociable man. He is friendly to everyone and would be loyal to his truest friends, but he's lived long enough to see his early friends and their descendants grow old and die. Even though he is by no means old for a dragon, he's reached the stage where to avoid the pain of losing people he cares about, he chooses not to make any meaningful connections with humans or other races that don't have the same longevity, but still finds them too alluring and interesting to stay away from. That is not to say he pushes people away, on the contrary he loves socialising, but it's just that, while he remains kind and caring and very much enjoys the fun and entertainment provided by humans and their company, he is emotionally indifferent to them and so he can seem quite superficial. That being said, he can love humans and indeed, he has fallen in love with several in the past thousand years, but since he cannot procreate with humans, each of those relationships ended with him watching his partner grow old and pass.

Mundane Skills: Having lived so long, Ray has picked up all manners of skills whilst mingling with humans. Constantly craving excitement, it would not be inaccurate to say that he is a jack of all trades but master of none. He has tried most everything that has piqued his interest but of those skills, the ones he's truly adept at number very few. Thanks to his mastery over electricity, he found that being a mechanic suited him. Other skills include fishing and sailing and though he hasn't used it in a long time, he's a seasoned fighter who has experience with quite a many medieval weaponry.
Occupation: Mechanic/Engineer
Goals: In recent times, Ray has been growing rather bored. With the advent of the digital age, he'd enjoyed the entertainments of the present such as video games and TV as well as nightlife of various countries but at some point his life is becoming repetitive. Unable to sit still for too long a period of time, Ray is constantly trying to find new things to do and try but he feels like he's running out. He's hoping that on the island inhabited by the Fey, he'll be able to discover new things that the mundane world could not offer.
Fears: Ray's biggest fear is stagnation. He could not bear sitting still for too long and in that vein, living a routine and repetitive lifestyle would feel like torture. Given the longevity of his race, he wants to avoid feeling trapped by his long lifespan as much as possible by trying new things and seeking excitement and thrills in all aspects of life. He is also aware of an emptiness that comes with his longevity and habit of avoiding meaningful relationships. He fears the pain of losing a loved one so he tries to not have any amongst humans and other short-lived races.

The Not So Human
Species Description: Ray is of the Dragon species, more specifically he is a Storm Dragon. There are many bloodlines of dragons governing many different elements of the natural world and Ray is born a Storm Dragon that controls lightning and electricity.
Powers and Abilities: Ray has complete mastery and control over electricity and all its subsidiary effects such as electromagnetism. In his Dragon form, he can summon storm clouds and call down lightning. And of course, his dragon breath is that of a stream of lightning, which is highly destructive. He also has a small influence over winds and rain but his control of those are more like suggestions and coaxing rather than absolute commands.

As expected of a dragon, Ray has extraordinary strength and constitution so he can heal injuries quickly in both his forms. He is also unaffected by mundane diseases given his Draconic constitution. He can also manifest aspects of his Draconic form at will, the most commonly used one is growing wings with which to fly at speeds that can rival a fighter jet.
Vulnerabilities: The white scales on the underside of a dragon are more leathery and flexible rather than hardened armour, as such they are more easily pierced. He is also much more easily injured in his human form, given the lack of scales, and all injuries remain when reverting back to his dragon form, though the size of the injury does not change. Additionally, despite the impenetrability of his scales, weapons enchanted by powerful magicks, and indeed most magical effects, still affect him.

The Story
Character Background: Ray is a Dragon of Storms born over 1500 years ago and even back then the population of dragons have begun declining due to humans hunting them. For the first few hundred years, Ray remained in his lair in the North Pacific Ocean, governing storms and hunting large beasts in the sea for sustenance. Eventually he grew bored and when he finally emerged and tried to interact with the human world, he found it very difficult to integrate. He left his hoard and lair behind, rarely returning since they're at an underwater cavern system, he has no worry that it'll be discovered even if there technically is an entrance above ground. It took several years and his first human love teaching him to learn how to act as humans do. While he keeps his identity secret, when he didn't grow old even after decades, he had no choice but to reveal his nature to each of those he's loved. As mentioned before, because of all the heartbreak, he's developed a superficial personality towards humans, always loving to interact but always remaining emotionally distant. He wasn't sure when it was but at some point he began to indulge in a life of revelry. Parties, night clubs, one-night stands with women and men alike. Always finding something to occupy his time in the day and always partying at night. He even enrolled and experienced college life for a few years, studying engineering. There are few other dragons in the world, but Ray never sought them out because despite them having the same longevity, humans are just more fun.

Although, he has met various occult fanatics over the years and because dragons are magical creatures, their body parts such as their scales, blood, and heart, serve as premium ingredients for the arcane. He'd only met one hunter before who managed to piece together the footprints he's left over the centuries, but suffice to say, the hunter did not survive the encounter.

He experienced as much as he could amongst the humans, from serving as a knight during medieval times, to fighting in the world wars. He watched the assassination of JFK and he watched Neil Armstrong stand on the moon. Nowadays though, with so much technology around and people always on their phones, he's starting to grow bored. He's constantly searching for new things to try, and sometimes even returning to old things which he'd found fun before.

How did you come to be at the Island?: Though he knows of the existence of the supernatural, he'd never sought then out, having occupied all of his time travelling the world and fraternising amongst humans. Now that he's growing bored though, he has decided to seek out the supernatural in the hopes that they can provide him the entertainment he craves, and also to perhaps meeting a love whom the sands of time will not take from him.

He'd received an invitation to the island long ago for his part in many wars over the centuries, most of which in defense of the good and the righteous, but the invitation had remained in his lair all this time since he wished to explore the wider world first. Now that he's done that and is beset by ennui, for the first time in centuries, he returns to his lair and finally accepts the invitation to the island, Lapisque Angularis.
