The Physical

Height & Weight: 5'9 | appropriate weight for a leanly muscled fellow insert here

Hair & Eye Color: Brown | Gray

Physical Description: Demetri's hair is dark, thick, and usually a mess, a few strands of silver and silvering at the temples though he looks young for it. His eyes are the dark steadfast gray of an underground river, and if we're going to get poetic about it, they're good eyes for forgetting yourself in. He's of average height, lean and rather wiry, but slouching makes him seem shorter. Though he naturally inclines to paleness, he spends a lot of time outside and his skin has darkened accordingly, but it's a pale olive.

Alternate Form: None

Talents & Weaknesses

Skills:
Demetri's been around, an autodidact with all the graces and physical benefits of a god's blood, who likes to learn he so possesses a number of seemingly contrary skills. Some he's excellent at, though the ones he pours most of his time into are the ones that are more of a challenge. He's the guy you want as guide if you're going spelunking or caving, he'll identify any rock you show him, translate an old Greek poem, re-string a piano, fix an unfixable toilet. Demetri has a degree in urban planning and a half-finished law degree. A musician of some skill, he's even better at sneaking into and out of places, at the unobtrusive arts. Though he seems to avoid weapons like they're the plague, he can defend himself and someone else a little too well. Demetri has a knack for destruction. He doesn't want to, but hey, whoever asked him? He is what he is. So the armor and weapons provided by the Olympus Initiative can go to very good use, in a pinch. He's better at sneaking and ghosting than directly fighting, however. Things don't seem to want to grow for him, but what Demetri likes doing best is gardening, so it's a constant - yet rewarding - struggle. He's terrible at cooking, but he likes to do that to. Just be prepared for a mouthful of rubbery goo that tastes like salt while Demetri looks hopefully on.

Powers:

* Coin of Shadows - A relic. The coin is old and, when held under his tongue, allows him to be invisible for a time or pass among the shadows until he speaks. A gift which came to him by way of the Underworld.

* Last Words - This is part of what can make him such a valuable 'get' for Olympus Initiative. Demetri can compell an answer, or learn a secret, from the dead. To simply 'hear'/'see' their last thoughts, he has to touch the body. To compell an answer, i.e., What do you regret? Is there anything you want to tell your daughter? Where is your will? What's the next stage of your forces' plan? Who is my real father?, Demetri usually has to pay in blood. The answers will be honest. Less blood required for people (or things!) who haven't been dead very long. If you ask more than one question, the dead are only compelled to answer one honestly, unless Demetri makes another blood offering. For obvious reasons, there are limits on how many he can make. The exception to the 'usually has to pay in blood' is if the person is so freshly dead that they're still warm and/or theoretically if it's somebody who deeply loves him or the person he's asking the question for (and this person is present).

* Affinity for the Dead - Ghosts, revenants, etc., will automatically leave Demetri alone or avoid him in battle (unless Hades or another God of the Dead is on the battlefield and commands them otherwise), simply based on the authority of his blood. They might also be more inclined to do him a favor, though not necessarily because they like him. Ghosts find his presence soothing, comforting, so a poltergeist is less likely to misbehave around Demetri!

* Katabasis/Anabasis - Is it underground or in another 'metaphorical' underworld? He's got a directional sense that'll lead him right to it. He doesn't know how long the journey will take, doesn't know how dangerous it will be, but he can be drawn to the thing and find his way back. Precious things underground almost seem to put themselves in his path, but that's just how they'd tell it in stories: it's all instinct and sixth sense and resonance. He can't confer this ability on another. When using this power, he's comfortable in the dark but can't actually see.

Vulnerabilities:

* Sensitive to bright lights

* He's not good at creating things, because they always want to skew and break or wither or something usually goes wrong, and he's extremely sensitive about it/will obsessively try long past the point he should have given up. This is why

* Demetri feels an extreme sense of obligation to the the world, and is easily swayed by this sense of obligation/responsibility/an internal code of honor into doing things that are unwise/he doesn’t want to.

* He’s a little nervous around dogs. Also, stage fright

Under The Hood

Personality: Demetri’s not the life of any party, usually found on the sidelines although in leadership positions he does well and keeps a cool head in a crisis. He tends to be quite serious, even melancholy, and his instincts are to be gentle or kind and to play peacekeeper rather than judge. His temper takes a long time to ignite, but once it does, that’s a fire that never burns out: becomes, instead, a deep grudge. He’s extremely stubborn—not always to his credit!—and in spite of the rather melancholic, low key facade, rejects fatalism as a negative and prefers hope. Hope's the thing. The world's full of wonder. Scratch Demetri's surface, and you might a contrary heart as well as one that inclines to kindness: Many of his general pursuits seem inspired by how difficult they are or somebody telling him no or expecting him to do otherwise. That time Demetri tried to knit a scarf because a follower of Arachne told him he couldn’t will live on in infamy! But only be mentioned near Demetri to start an argument.
