T'Leera

Name: Lt. T'Leera

Race: Vulcan

Age: 46

Gender: Female

Position applying to: Chief Flight Control Officer

Service record: Upon graduation T'Leera was assigned to the USS Appalachia (NCC-52136) where she worked her way up to Asst. Chief Flight Control Officer in record time. Whilst on board the Appalachia she took place in the Battle of Sector 001. During the Dominion War she participated in the Operation Return and the Battle of Cardassia. Upon promotion from Lt. JG to Lt. she requested a transfer to the USS Wanderer which carried with it the position of Chief Helm Officer as well as the fascinating opportunity to explore the Gamma Quadrant as well as pilot a newer ship class.

Lt. T'Leera has been awarded the Starfleet Decoration of Gallantry, the Starfleet Medal of Valor, and The Star Cross for her actions during the various battles she has been involved in.

Pre-Starfleet: Lt. T'Leera took a rather surprising route in joining Starfleet. After finishing her education at the VSA she applied to Starfleet rather than the Vulcan Expeditionary Group. Moreover she did not seek out the typical, and expected, positions in either Science or Medical but instead learned how to pilot starships at Starfleet Academy where she graduated top of her class. She did so because Helm is considered one of the "fast-track" positions to command of a starship which is her goal.

T'Leera has a ferocious intellect even amongst Vulcans which has led quite a few to believe she is wasted in her position but they do not understand either her goals or one simple fact: she enjoys piloting a starship. This fact she keeps secret as other Vulcans would be dismayed by her giving in to the emotional nature of her work. What they fail to understand is that her intellect, combined with one of the most powerful telepathic (and telekinetic) abilities ever documented has given her a sense of external proprioception as well as the typical sense of one's own body relative to itself and the space it occupies.

Her ability manifests itself as a spatial perception that is damn near magic. She can feel if the ship is off course by less than a degree. She can feel acceleration and deceleration and tell exactly how fast the ship is going without checking her instruments. She is able to 'feel' the general state of the ship and can pick up a vibration or something out of alignment too small for the ship itself to readily detect. As such she is often found leaned back in her chair with her eyes closed feeling the ship and the space around it. One might think her asleep upon first seeing her but she quickly disabuses anyone of that mistake right away. Due to this ability it's impossible to sneak up on her or ambush her unless you're quite a ways off. She is also able to feel the general state of the crew onboard the ship but finds the vast amount of emotions to be somewhat disturbing.

She was a child prodigy even amongst Vulcans who was doing differential geometry before she could walk. She's able to multitask in ways that seem utterly impossible and is often working out complex equations whilst talking, piloting the ship, and giving reports. She can plot navigational coordinates in her head with an accuracy that rivals that of top end nav comps.

She does not require touch to use her telepathy and can do so over interstellar distances.

Due to her wartime experiences she has a tendency to be rather more aggressive than then average Vulcan - to the point of almost having a "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality when confronted with hostility. The Battle of Sector 001 and War with the Dominion caused her to resume her studies of Suus Mahna in its more offensive form than what is in practice amongst Vulcans today. Additionally she has spent several years studying the Bat'leth which she does on her off-hours training time. One is displayed in her quarters on the Wanderer.
