Nakira

Name:
Nakira

Nickname:
Kira

Age:
Young

Gender:
Female

Race/Species:
Nine-Tailed Fox of the Asuna tribe

Powers/Abilities:
+ Sun Energy: As is hereditary in all nine-tailed fox spirits from the Asuna tribe, Kira has the ability to harness and reshape the magic of the sun into orbs of raw energy. This is best utilized during the day and even better utilized when the sun is in appearance. Kira is unable to access her sun power during darkness and without the presence of sunlight.

+ Enhanced Senses: While human senses are rather docile and mediocre, Kira's senses are easily three to four times as strong as that of an every day adult human being. She is able to sense danger from up to three miles away simply by lending her ear to the ground, and when in combination with the natural sensory triggers on her fingers, Kira is able to hear footfalls up to an average 500m radius. Her nose is as sensitive as a predator's, and death in particular draws first into her smell before many other animals are able to sense the departure of a soul from the Earth.

+ Predatory Nature: The Asuna tribe are well known for their unconventional methods of hunting, but for the most part Kira's kind hunts for food in a similar way that animals might. Just like food, the consumption of souls is a requirement in her survival as much as the air she breathes and the water she drinks. She in a natural at stalking, waiting, pouncing and swiftly killing her prey which has it's perks when the food at the Academie aren't to her moody tastes. Despite this instinct, Kira often foregoes her nature to hunt for more conventional means of eating for simplicity and convenience to the Academie.

+ Empathic Soothing: With every kill, the Asuna people retain the ability to bring calm emotions to their prey in order to send them to their death with grace and dignity, allowing happy thoughts and the control of their emotions to fall under their control once the victim's souls are opened and begin to leave the body. It is a well-practiced trait that Kira continues to utilize when she kills for food, remembering always to respect and give honor to those that provide her with sustenance.

+ Soul Memories: For every creature she kills, Kira is not only able to soothe their emotions for a graceful death, but Kira is forced to retain a sense of empathy as she receives flashes of memory from each soul she consumes. Many memories will flash and depart, relying on Kira's own primal memory to retain the information, but some memories will occasionally linger a little bit longer, meaning that a line of spiritual magic is often associated with the particular memory.

Appearance:
Kira is of average female height standing at 5'5" tall, with a gentle, feminine heart-shaped face that is framed by a ridiculous length of dark ebony hair. Furry black ears protrude from the top of her head, a curious pair that twitch and turn curiously as Kira does depending on her emotions and mood. Large golden cat eyes peer out through lashed eyelids, where a cupid-s bow set of lips and small nose set her facial features.

Her frame is small, but one look will confirm that she is swift and stealthy, her body lithe and toned against well-endowed breasts and a round behind. Despite her height, her legs appear long, and are often left bare in terms of cloth concealment for the purposes of flexibility and movement. In fox form, Kira is able to sprout nine white tails in conjunction to the sun, indicating that her abilities garnered from the Asuna tribe have been ignited, allowing her the ability to utilize the sun's powers. She often chooses to conceal them in order to more appropriately blend in with humans, although her feline ears on her head give her away more often than not.

Merits:
+ Exceedingly empathetic in all matters of death
+ Intellectually resourceful
+ Excellent stealth ability

Flaws:
+ Passionate temper
+ Plagued with memories of those she has killed
+ Feelings of isolation knowing she is the only one left of her own kind

History:
Nakira's history is not a story kept secret. A young child rescued by dwarves, protected by their forest as the world she should have known collapsed around her. The Asuna tribe was a small one, quiet and secluded where peace was concerned. They had few troubles and even fewer enemies, many even going so far as to believe the nine-tailed kitsune were a myth in and of themselves. They were ghosts of the forest, hunting in the cloak of the trees and finding solace in seclusion and secrecy. They did not thrive but they did not suffer either.

But for every story there is a protagonist and an antagonist, and to a relative number who believed in the so-called myths of the nine tailed fox there was surmountable power to be had. Fueled by the sun and able to channel fire, to channel life itself. The greed that would overcome these individuals would grow with each mistake that opened the Asuna people to the Believers, those who hunted the hunters without remorse and sought to wield their sun power for themselves.

When the time had finally come due and the hunt finally began, the Asuna tribe had not been ready. No one has been ready: for millenia the forest had protected them and wrongfully so, they had believed this without fear of repercussions. The forest was cloaked with darkness, and the Asuna foxes, wiped from the Earth to no advantage to anyone...except one surviving child deposited on the doorstep of a small cottage at the edge of the forest.

Nakira's life growing up was as peaceful as she could have hoped: not once did Midrigal and Thrax, the dwarven couple who took her in treated her any differently despite ensuring that she would know she was not one of them. They raised her, their only 'child', as any dwarven parents would and many say that this is where Nakira's feistier-than-thou attitude comes from.

But Nakira couldn't be taught who she truly was. There was not another kitsune who would see her adolescence and know how to show her how to develop. Her parents were librarians for a grand school in the city, and knowingly drew her to their protection, realizing the risk in sharing her existence with others who might seek to hunt her as they did her people.

But Midrigal and Thrax knew this was the only way to help their young daughter to become who she was meant to be. It was at the Academie that Nakira learned who she truly was, and found sufficient mentorship in the various staff who learned to dote on her whenever they saw her youthful feline face in the hallways, wandering up and down them in the wonder she was often known for.

Even so, she was young and for many, she had been a myth for the entirety of their lives. Learning the way of the nine tailed fox surely wouldn't be an easy task.

Nakira, now having come of age, has be accepted to attend the Academie in hopes that she may train alongside those chosen to partake in their studies and bring control and vigilance to her true abilities.
