Dr. Jason Lee Bliant was born in 1890 in Kansas City, Missouri. Born of a Doctor, it was no surprise that he would pursue the same career. Indeed, he never even considered any other option. He had just finished his surgical residency when Archduke Ferdinand was felled by an assassin's bullet. Three years later, he enlisted in the Medical Corps on 7 April 1917, the day after the US declared war on the Kaiser. He served the next year and a half near the front lines in France, earning a field promotion to Captain, but the horrors of war left it's mark on him. He missed the very end of the war, having been reassigned to an Army mental hospital late in the summer of 1918. ...as a patient.

He was released from the hospital two years later with a note in his military record marking him as "cured". He resigned his commission, but found that returning to surgical practice was difficult. When a teaching opportunity at Miskatonic University appeared, he jumped at it. If he was unable to be the extraordinary surgeon he once was, he would dedicate himself to making as many extraordinary surgeons as he could.

One of Dr. Bliant's patients during the war was one Henry Roades. To Jason, he was just another leg that had to be removed, but Henry remembered him. Through Henry's friendship (and with the help of the boys down at the American Legion Hall), Jason has almost completely recovered from his shell shock.

Jason is a smallish man of slight build, and only stands 5'2". His nervous, timid attitude makes him seem even smaller than he is. He has jet black hair and brown eyes, and quick, darting fingers.
