James Theaker, Ph.D.

Dr. James Theaker is a rugged looking, stylish, 39 year old man, recently tenured as an archaeology professor at Miskatonic University in the College of Language, Literature, and the Arts (LL&A), School of Antiquities, Department of Archaeology.
He is five foot, eleven inches tall with light brown hair, has deep blue eyes and is of normal weight for his height.
Theaker looks well kept, clean shaven and is usually in a comfortable suit.

His theories are somewhat extreme for the Miskatonic University Department of Archaeology. He sometimes tries to force fit occult beliefs into 'established' archaeological beliefs.

Theaker is a Thelemite believer and holds meetings about the religion.  He has a several undergrad followers, not just the coeds. "Every Man and Every Woman Is a Star."

 History:
He was born in Arkham Massachusetts in 1886 to a wealthy family, his father being a medical doctor. His father and he spent many lazy, summer afternoons fishing by the Miskatonic River where The Halls of Miskatonic University were close by. He attended private schools until 1903 when he graduated high school. Theaker drew close to the old university and it's buildings almost as a moth is attracted to an open flame.  His father, Angus, had attended Harvard and made sure that his son went there as well.  So, Theaker went to Harvard University to study archaeology.

In 1908 he graduated with a Master of Science in Archaeology and a minor in Psychology and began his graduate studies. To gain experience in archaeology he worked on several Harvard and Miskatonic University digs in the US, mainly in the southwest US from 1908 until 1910.

In 1910 he resumed his graduate studies at Harvard University and got an archaeology doctorate in 1914.   His thesis supporting the theory that current humans came out of China. His paper was published, "Homo Sapiens out of China". He was hired as an associate professor at Miskatonic University in 1915.

Further progress towards a full professorship was put on hold in 1917 when the US entered World War I. Once drafted into the army, he was put though officers training school and in early 1918 became a lieutenant stationed in France. He was a logistics officer and did not see any fighting, but he had quite a bit of time to become a good shot with his Colt M1911 auto. He was discharged in early 1919 and went back to Miskatonic to continue as an associate professor.

Theaker's doctoral thesis impressed Roy Chapman Andrews so much that Theaker was invited on Chapman's Mongolian digs that Chapman began in 1920 and ended with the fourth expedition in 1923. Theaker returned to Miskatonic University as a full professor in 1923.

Theaker's friend, Professor McTavish, reintroduced Theaker to Christine Blake, a former undergrad at M.U. Theaker was smitten and fell head over heals for Christine this time and they were married six months ago. In the past, he was something of a magnet for faculty wives and co-eds, but put all that behind him when he married Christine!  The plan for 1927 is for Christine and Theaker to go to Guatemala at M.U.'s expense, doing a preliminary survey of a site Ernest McTavish plans to excavate in the summer of '27, sort of a working honeymoon.
