In older circles, Dr. Nathaniel Pierce was a respected professor of classical art history at Boston College who faded into relative obscurity when he chose to give up his tenure. Nowadays, the professor masquerades as a newly instated instructor at the Maine College of Art and Design. He’s a known critic of the current Portland art scene, that he often derides as “gaudy and gauche, chasing after fads without seeking substance.”

Of course, he’s not an artist himself, he’s a historian, but no one can say he doesn’t have an eye. He’s mentored quite a few young talents that have exploded into the art world and even reached acclaim nationally and abroad. And the number would be higher if you count the old masks he used to wear.

Nathan is one of the few Toreador at odds with Primogen Duvivier, even though he is her childe. Due to Prince Prescott’s similar distaste for Amy though, Nathan has risen with the Prince’s blessing in Court even though he’s ostracized from his clan. He’s a subtle but elegant presence, more measured and less emotional than his clan mates. It’s made his barbs all the more biting and arguments more convincing. He’s a defining influencer in Court, although he rarely makes public moves outside of Court. There are still secret whispers though that say Primogen Duvivier may not have the clan's heart for much longer.
