Physical Description: Milo is a lanky teen from Florida USA. His father is Chinese and his mother is Puerto Rican, and both immigrated to the United States before he was born. He has wavy black hair, tan skin, and deep brown eyes. His clothes typically consist of a t-shirt and jeans, occasionally with a simple vest.
Personality: Milo has a go-with-the-flow type of attitude most of the time and is a decent problem-solver. He can also get a bit obsessive when doing science experiments. Especially ones involving plants. Casual science experiments are his way of kicking back and relaxing. That, and video games or bicycle riding.
Mutant Powers:
Plant Manipulation - Milo can guide the growth of nearby living plants. He can make trees grow, flowers bloom, and fruits ripen, among other things. He does need a living plant though, so he can't grow something from nothing. He can make plants move their branches etc. to a limited degree, but it isn't a super fast process. And uprooting them to make them walk around is out of the question.
Plant Empathy - By touching a plant, Milo can get a sense of its health status. Like, he can tell if it is dehydrated, injured, or if it absorbed polluted water. When he holds a seed, he gets a good sense of the type of plant it will grow into.
Plant Aspect Mimicry - For a short while, Milo can take on certain characteristics of any plant he touches. Touch a cactus to gain spines, or an orange to gain a fresh citrus smell, for example. Most commonly, he touches a tree to gain wood-like skin, improving his durability. This ability has the added benefit of giving him limited immunity to toxins of plants he touches, like poison ivy.
Other Skills: While Milo is no genius scientist, he is still skilled in doing the rigorous steps that science requires. His knack with plants also gives him a distinct edge when it comes to all fields of plant care. He can also perform a few minor bike tricks.
Weaknesses: Milo cannot un-grow his plants. So if he grows a redwood up through a sidewalk, it's going to stay there and cause people problems.
Previous History: Milo grew up in Florida with his parents, an older sister, an older brother, and a younger sister. All was good until around the time Milo turned seven. Around that time his mother was found out to possess mutant abilities (Powerful extendable prehensile hair). He never found out whether she had been hiding her abilities from his dad or whether they merely manifested later in life, but he did know that it eventually led to his parents getting a divorce.
That was bad enough, but it got worse. His dad, being the non-mutant, got custody of all four children. They barely got to see their mother over the next few years. And in the end she was carted off to one of the mutant internment camps. That was the last they heard, and do not know her current fate.
It was devastating to their entire family, and Milo got the sense that his father felt the blamed himself heavily for his ex-wife's fate. So when Milo developed mutant abilities at thirteen, his father helped to keep things under wraps. And his father also helped to track down a place where Milo could live in relative safety without having to constantly hide who he was. That search led Milo to his spot among Haven a year later.
