The Roivas family are an old, respected (rich) family from Rhode Island. They have a history of academics, philosophers, adventurers, and (despite the resourced devoted to covering it up) more than a few lunatics.

What is not commonly known is that the Roivas family has been devoted to the Arcane Arts for generations. Most of the time, these studies do little more than drive their practitioners crazy. Every few generations, however, a Roivas manages to actually perform SOME magic.

Nathaniel can perform more than SOME magic. His facility would amaze even the most stolid of his ancestors. However, he has also attracted no small amount of attention of the powers and creatures and things that lurk in the darkness beyond the light of civilization.

Nathaniel is tall and thin, with pale skin and dark, haunted eyes. His face betrays both his family's patrician heritage and also his family's tendency to mix with the working classes.
