Minnie grew up the third daughter of turnip farmers on the grassy plains of Ulek County. From an early age she showed much more interest in hunting weasels with her trusty bow than digging up turnips.

Upon reaching adulthood, faced with the prospect of being married off to the thick-headed son of a neighbouring farmer, she packed up her meagre belongings and headed off in search of adventure and to see the wider world.
