Natasha's upbringing has been fairly half-hazard and without structure, even for a Rus.

She remembers older males and females being responsible for young persons around her age when she was younger, as she grew up, but no mother, father, or other relative. She did not have a proper place to stay, slept here and there often in a communal room, and spent much time out of doors performing random simple tasks for anyone with a coin or bit of food.

As a young urchin she found a talent for creating things to wear; when some saw what she could do at this, a few sought her out to donate things for her to use. She found a business to work at this part time, and finally full time after some several years.

Rather than make it a business to fight off sexual predators as she grew older, instead, she buffed up and learned how to fight, by herself and with others. She is short but has a powerful low center of gravity.

Being not strictly a part of any family, Natasha is not closely associated with anyone, but is often seen with a group of young people who hang around together. As a matter of practice, this group makes a habit of acting together, often seeming as if they were a part of a scene in a play. This is to fool around and pretend to be what they are not to strangers or persons that they wish to confuse.  She cultivates bluff and acting to hide some of just who she is. She does not like the idea of being someone else's peasant.
