"The galaxy needs heroes, now more than ever..."

Backstory:

Legends. Sagas. Theater. These are the stories that Thyek Pa was raised on, the tales he would spend hours searching for in the Jedi Archives, and the plays he would sneak into whenever his Jedi Master was not paying attention. As a Rodian, he shared his people's love of drama. His favorites all involved heroes facing down impossible odds, whether fighting off hordes of vicious mercenaries or felling the mighty ghest beasts that could wipe out entire cities. When he slept, he dreamed of being that shining beacon of hope, that lone Jedi Knight who faces down the evils plague the galaxy through dedication to Jedi ideals and fantastic lightsaber duels.

As a padawan, Thyek committed himself to learning the skills that the heroes from his dramas all possess. He mastered the Ataru style of fencing. He taught himself how to fly and drive. He studied the texts of Jedi Masters, paying special attention to which of his literary heroes best embodied their ideals. He also studied his people's traditions, and their connection with nature. While he found the Rodian tradition of hunting animals for trophies distasteful, he noted how many Rodian plays had their heroes forge bonds with animal companions. He became a bit too good at this skill, to the chagrin of many a Coruscant exterminator wondering how certain rats kept avoiding their traps.

Thyek's master, the kind and soft-spoken Imfo Dob, was an Ithorian Jedi Master. She appreciated her padawan's enthusiasm, boundless energy, and can-do attitude. However, she often chided him for his tendency to act first and think later (if at all). She would remind him that knowing what is heroic is often less important than understanding why people consider the act heroic, and that Jedi are more than the dramas portray them as. She worried that his desire to do great deeds distracts him from focusing on smaller, immediate problems, or the potential consequences of his actions should he fail.

Thyek has tried to take his master's advice to heart. However, it has grown increasingly difficult to do so with the outbreak of the Clone Wars. He sees the conflict as a call to action, and what kind of hero would he be if he resisted answering the call...
