Fan-Hee is a young Khitan lay priest on pilgrimage along with a small group of senior scholars. The Khitan priests have not been forthcoming with their reasons for being at Fort Drethil and are generally treated with mistrust and discourtesy being outsiders and foreigners. They are forthcoming with their coin however, purchasing provisions for frequent outtings into the wilderness and returning with bountiful herbal concoctions of varying usefulness.

Fanny, as she has come to be known locally, has an adventurous spirit that is in contrast to the other Khitan priests who tend to keep to their own company. She can be found wandering alone among the other peoples of the fort striking up friendly conversations and hanging on anyone willing to tell their tale. Often the older priests appear to scold her and put her to work on some menial duty as a penance, but obviously they are having some difficulty controlling her.

The girl is small and light of body, whether it is because she is just small or that is normal for her people (the women in particular) nobody knows. She has olive skin, long straight jet hair and soft brown eyes.
