Personality: A model of Imperium efficiency, dependability and professionalism while on duty. She often uses concise language when speaking, this only changes when she's speaking with superior officers, aliens, friends, or family.
She doesn't often socialize when off duty, but when she does, she always listens attentively. On such occasions, she rarely speaks unless invited to. On or off duty, she is always at least courteous to most sophonts, particularly her fellow servicepersons. She is also well known for her near compulsive attention to cleanliness and proper appearance.

Appearance: Chandika is medium height with a slender feminine build. She has shoulder-length deep brown hair, dark chocolate colored almond-shaped eyes with epicanthic folds, and tanned skin. Her face is oval with a rounded chin and bow lips. She usually wears one of her many uniforms while in public or common areas, but she does have some casual clothes for more intimate and less official settings.

Qualifications: She has a degree in linguistics and fluency in the majority of the major languages used in Known Space. She also has expert certifications in Communications, the use of Starship Sensors, and Computer technology. The Chief Petty Officer is also proficient in several Naval skills.

Background: Born on the planet Cir (A679646-C) in the Antares Subsector, both of her parents were Imperial military. His father was Naval Commander Ji-ho Park, and his mother Marine Lieutenant Tarabai Chopade. As agreed upon by their families, Chandika was raised by her maternal Aunt Professor Jaya Baker née Chopade and Uncle Professor Simon Baker.

Of course, Chandika did see her birth parents on occasion as their duties permitted. When she did, their stories of adventure among the stars delighted and frightened her, stirring her imagination. However, her Aunt and Uncle resented her parents and wanted Chandika to follow in their footsteps.

At the age of 8, Chandika met her first non-human, Aurzfou, a student Vargr on Cir as part of a cultural exchange program. By the time Aurzfou left Cir, she and Chandika had shared languages languages and become BFFs.

Soon after her Vargr BFF left Cir, Chandika was introduced to Conner MacPhearson a retired Naval Captain. Capt. MacPhearson was a family friend, having served alongside Chandika's grandfather. Encouraged by messages from her parents, and a treasure trove of stories about his and her grandfather's exploits. Chandika came into his care to begin preparations for joining the Navy.

When she returned to the full time care of her Aunt and Uncle, they convinced her to devote herself to science. She followed her inclination and discovered a talent for linguistics and languages. Achieving academic acumen and solid ability with most of the languages of the Major Races, was interesting but she could no longer deny her desire to join her parents in the Navy.

It soon became evident that her facility with languages also translated well into expertise in Comm, Computer and Sensor systems. Despite rapidly ascending the ranks, Chandika has yet made the move to CO. There are more than a few bets that she will finally become an Ensign or better, before becoming a Master Chief.
