Harlon Metzger

Name: Harlon Metzger

Age: 28

Sex: Male

Sexual orientation: Heterosexual

Personality: Harlon is generally considered to be a funny guy, relaxed and congenial despite his position with the Marine Contingent aboard the Artful. Those who have known him long enough will tell you that he was not always so casual, but that he learned to cultivate a low key demeanor after years of service.

Appearance: Harlon's recognizable appearance quite literally shaped his career, and the man is notably large and very muscular. His head in square shaped with a jutting chin and close cropped hair.

Qualifications and Training: Pending

Interests/Hobbies/Likes: Harlon takes his diet and fitness very seriously, and as a result has taken an interest in cooking. It is not unusual to see him on shore leave picking up spices, choice cuts of local meat and unusual vegetables. He also has a small collection of uniform patches from far flung locations and services.

Dislikes: Harlon is a teetotaler and is generally disapproving of intoxication, which makes him a popular wrangler for sailors and marines alike at ports of call.

Background: Harlon's father worked as a field officer for the Imperial Criminal Courts based on the Garden World of Karin in his Five Sisters subsector, and often passed through or near Naval facilities as part of his work. He encouraged his son to consider service from a young age, and Harlon enlisted as an Imperial Marine when he came of age and completed his basic training at Wonstar.

Unfortunately for Harlon, he possessed a certain "look" that his superiors were interested in, and instead of heading to an active deployment, Harlon was instead assigned a series of of details that took advantage of his iconic "poster boy" physique.

Harlon's image is plastered on recruiting media across the Empire, and he is one of the more recognizable Imperial Marines in active service. Many are surprised to learn that he is an actual Marine instead of an actor upon meeting him for the first time.

From there it was a lot of Honor Guard and Embassy Protection. It was not until years into his career that Harlon actually served on warships, and these deployments were inevitably long an mostly uneventful. He did pick up specialized trainings in ship to ship explosive breaching and Zero-G tactics, but these were trainings, not what he had signed on for.

Now well into his career, Harlon is still wondering if he will ever be called upon to fire a shot in anger. Although he has found his niche, he has not seen any live combat despite his years of service, and his assignment to the Artful shows no signs of that changing any time soon.
