Insatiable curious, irredeemable stubborn, and faintly redolent of burnt powder, zabacco, and monkey, Haps von Vootman is hard to miss.  A Darythman, who took to sea young, he's a capable gunner, and attracted, almost compusively, to anything that goes boom.  Although relatively even-tempered, he's not always comfortable around people, and is happiest when tending to his latest project, whether that's playing around with a gun carriage, or testing some new form of explosive.   His inseperable companion is his Capuchin monkey, Verdamm, who, of the two, is probably the more sociable, especially if there's food up for grabs.
