Camilla DuBois has a Gift. Sometimes, on rare occasions, she can see the future. At least a version of what might be. The images come to her from the cards which she will use to tell a man's fortune. Most often she just makes it up, but once in a while a Vision comes to her and she speaks in a different voice as she retells it.

When she is not telling the cards she works on the ship as a cook's mate in the galley, specializing in fish stew and bread baking.

During battles, she is a powder monkey, ferrying charges of gunpowder from the stores to the individual cannons in leather satchels. She is studying to become a gunner and has shown some skill at aiming the cannon -- when the men will let her.
