Description:
Caleb is a tall, thin, decent looking young man with only battered cloths that are ill fitting. He carries a pistol he got when he was paroled that looks like it has been in heavy use in every battle of the war.


Background:
Caleb has no idea who his real parents are, and the man who become his father figure died after attempting to cheat the wrong people at poker. Caleb remembers only gambling halls, river boats and brothels as he grew up. Spending his time learning how to play and cheat at most games of chance. After his “father” was killed in a gun battle on a river boat the then teenaged young man though it was a good idea to find someplace else to be, and quick.

It wasn’t very long after that he lied about his age and was enlisted into the confederate army and scared out of his wits as the union army began closing in on the south. After fighting in a couple of losing battles he was assigned as a litter bearer for his battalion medical company and soon after was assisting the Doctors in the operating room and the wards watching more and more misery pile up until they were overrun by the union army.

He was sent there after by train with the other captured soldiers and the war ended while he was in transit. The doctor he had worked with most had told him he should look into going to medical school since he was a pretty quick study and had the knack for the work. Now he is out and bouncing around the country trying to find a place where Johnny Reb might not be immediately run out of town so he can find a way to make some money and maybe look into going to school one day.
