Personality
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══

Prim, proper, and always doing her best to maintain her image, Sally is at heart a picturesque woman of her era, a true southern belle. However, her traditional values have found themselves tested recently and the sheltered naivety she'd retained from being kept far from the realities of the world have began to fade. The well mannered woman journeyed west with expectations of Christian hospitality and mistakenly assumed general kindness would come from everyone just as freely as she'd offer it herself; but the harshness of reality has since shaken her spirit, not enough to shift her determination to earn a living and better her family's situation of course, but shaken it none the less. Regardless of her troubles Sally retains most of her optimism and whimsical spark, believing entirely that God has brought her here for a reason and any tests he might have in store she'll get beyond.

Backstory
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══

The bulk of Sally's life was spent looking after her brothers and sisters back home in Kentucky, appreciating the quiet days on the family farm and tending to the children and livestock. When her younger brother Daniel set out to find his way to riches a part of her left with him and the wanderlust never honestly faded. The two were exceptionally close and she missed the long nights of playing cards with him, he was her only real competition in the house for best poker face after all.

When he'd gone Daniel had promised to send back what he could to help keep the tax collectors at bay; it had been a few years of poor harvest and unknown to the Summers family until a few months ago Pa had fallen vastly behind on giving up what the government asks for. Daniel being the eldest son had made it his mission to get the situation sorted, but after months of silence Sally seemed set to follow in his footsteps hoping to do what Daniel hadn't managed and find out why he abandoned the family in their time of need.

The journey was to be a long and tedious one and something no woman in her right mind would dare to travel alone, luckily for Sally the rather secluded Summers family did have a few nearby neighbors that owed a favor to the family who so often shared their harvests in the midst of winter when food was scarce. The Cherokee had always been a people of honor and when a debt was due it was paid,so when she came to them looking for help they were quick to offer a guide at least into Missouri and up to St.Louis.

Once there Sally found her supplies running low and the costs of joining a wagon train west were more than she had left, she'd hated to do it, it had never felt right to her, but there just wasn't another way to get where she needed to be without leaning into her talents as a gambler. Overnight she'd turned $10 into $50 and was back to hitting the trail again, all the while hoping the Lord wouldn't frown on her for resorting to such.

By the time the west was in sight Sally had gained more than a few extra dollars from a game here and there. It hadn't been so much that she was actively looking to take the pay the men leading the caravan had, they were just dead set on getting back the couple of dimes they'd lost from their first playful hands with the woman and over the course of the weeks it had spiraled into most of them being damn near broke. Sally had actually tried to give some of it back, but they were mostly a stubborn sort and almost none would feel right reclaiming something she'd won fair and square.

Almost none, indeed.

Wade Johnson was the outlier, the wild horse had been biding his time and plotting while she'd been slowly collecting nearly every cent of disposable income that his colleagues and himself had gotten paid for the trip out. So he waited until nightfall and Sally was surprised to wake and find a gun in her face. In hindsight maybe she should have pulled out her Dad's derringer that he'd given her, but she'd never have the backbone to squeeze that trigger anyways. He took every cent, every last one, and it was only from the combined charity of those she'd already taken so much from that she'd managed to have $5 in her pocket.

She's here now though, Dead Mule, and while she might not have much, she's certain she can turn it into more.
