Background (from RTJ)
The smell of smoke wafts past the interviewer with all the cloying sweetness of the man before them. A who seems hardy enough to spend his days laboring at the docks stands affront the recruitment table with an easy smile affixed around the offending cigar. "Name, Experience, and Intended division." The man give a slight nod and continues gladly, "Beith Kerdak, regular hauler of goods and novice of illusions, looking to join your supply chain. Figured it'd be good fit one way or the other." The interviewer hums to themselves "Illusion. How far can you go with it so far?" Beith takes a short puff from his cigar and allows the smoke to drift around him slowly turning him opaque, "Just enough to keep myself unseen," the smell of the cigar dissipates, "unsmelt, and really this little trick makes me quite a few friends-"
"On with it fool"
"Ah, well, unhea-"
The interviewer's eyes tighten as they watch for the faint outline the man had shown, only to yank their arm away from the faintest sensation. Watching in fury as a dagger was stuck into the table next to them, and then in confusion as they realize that their arm is numb.
"And even, unfelt." Beith stands besides the interviewer as their disapproving gaze meets his self assured grin. A moment of quite contemplation as the interviewer weighs the disrespect of this fool with the effectiveness of their talent. And then the interviewer commands, "Salute." And after just a brief moment of recognition Beith hastily salutes. And then the interviewer turns their attention to a sheet of paperwork.
And they fill it out.
And Beith stands very still.
And the sun moves very slowly across the sky.
And then the interviewer stamps the paperwork with a seal. "Fine. Take this and hand it to X, they might take you for the mages but I'm sure the logistics team would love some on demand magic." Beith shakily drops the salute. "BUT," He hastily resumes it. "You should work on that smell, or else hide it forever." He droops a bit, takes the paperwork and leaves.
