Joshua wears the cloak and robes of an aesthetic, monk, or holy man.  They are tattered, threadbare, patched, and worn.  He carries a broken stick, or rod, that seems to have faded symbols etched upon it.

Despite his mad appearance, and sometimes mad behaviors, he is approachable and tends to elicit curiosity rather than fear.  That is, if people bother to notice him at all.
