Amaris

Name: Amaris

Occupation: Jeweler; owns La Luna Mystique

Actual Age/Apparent Age: 28

Gender: female

Sexuality: hetero

Race/Species: Moon-touched Human

Appearance:  Amaris seems as though she might have convinced the night itself to rise up and walk with her for a time. And perhaps she has. Raven hair the color of a moonless night, matched with blue-gray eyes that might be the moonlight itself combine to give her a pale complexion, or maybe that is from preferring night over day. Amaris stands taller than average for a woman, her slender form moving fluidly as she walks, as if she either doesn’t know or doesn’t care who might watch as she walks by. She tends towards darker clothing, often with streaks of light peeking out here and there, though it might be missed at first glance.

Softly glowing marks drifting over her shoulder and down her left arm. Something like the delicate shimmer of moonlight in the water, that might ebb and flow. Amaris mostly keeps this covered, not wanting to draw undue attention to herself.

Personality: Amaris is quiet and curious. She may come off as a bit of a loner, but only because she hasn't found many that accept her as she is. Once one gets to know her, she can be quite loyal to a true friend. If found in her store, Amaris is open and welcoming, something she tries to be in other places as well, but finds it hard, given her past. It may take her a bit to get comfortable around someone, but once she does, the sweetest personality peeks out. Helpful and giving by nature, she only wants people to be happy.

On any given night, one might find Amaris sitting outside watching the stars. On moonless nights, she might seem more sullen, almost longingly watching the sky and much more quiet. Though, when the moon is full, her entirety seems to glow, from a faint glimmer easily mistaken as imagination surrounding her to her personality, warming into a tranquil contentedness that seems to overflow within her, catching up those that might be close enough.

Abilities/Skills:
Moon Touched - Amaris has a connection to the moon most would dismiss, but she can shed a soft light to the world around her, capture it in gems used in her art, but for the most part, remains entirely harmless, magic wise.

Jeweler - Amaris is a skilled jeweler, a talent learned when young, but she also went to a vocational school to push her craft past novice level and into something more professional. As a skilled jeweler, Amaris can create most anything. However, she prefers her word to remain original, seeing it as her artwork rather than some bauble that can be found anywhere.

Moon Magic - Amaris has skill in Moon Magic, though it is more of a hobby than anything else. She can perform some things, but nothing especially strong. Her connection to the moon is one most would dismiss, but she can shed a soft light into the world around her, capturing it in gems used in her art. For the most part, hers is a harmless magic.

History: Amaris always knew she was different, always knew there was some connection to the Moon. Her mother would tell her The Man in the Moon himself was her father, and for a time, Amaris believed her. Before she grew up to realize differently. Children laughed at the idea, calling her crazy and weird. They called her a vampire for her love of the night and preference for it over the daylight, without realizing that there were some very real, physical effects caused by her staying out in the sun for too long. Amaris never understood it, but it always made her feel uncomfortable in her own skin.

Because of this, she comes across rather withdrawn, tending to spend her time alone, though she never seems upset or lonely. Perhaps it is those she has chosen to allow into her life that gives her a sense that there are people there that understand her, or don’t mind her odd tendencies. Amaris sometimes wonders if their acceptance might be the same if they knew that her connection to the moon seeped much deeper than merely liking it.

She has often wondered who her father really was, if not the Man in the Moon himself, though never quite enough to search for him. Anytime her thoughts have followed that path, it often ends with her talking herself out of it, convinced that if he wanted to know her, if he missed her, he either wouldn’t have left, or come looking for her instead. After all, he knew he had a daughter, right?
