Death was born at the moment of creation of the universe to be the equal of and balance to all creation.  Death is the end of everything.  Everything ever created (including the gods) has a shadow of death with them.  But the end is not something to be feared, for it is Death's job is to ensure that went something ends, its essence is returned to the "Font of Life" to be reused by the universe.  When a sentient being dies, Death does is cleanse the soul of it previous life, of the good or evil that it did, and returns that soul pure to the Font of Life to be recycled.

Death comes for whom the bell tolls, but if you are lucky and find the Avatar of Death, then perhaps a bargain can be struck.  But what will the price be? Because Balance is the Key.
