Appearance: 

6’1”, blue eyes, darker blonde hair typically kept short with a bit of a beard. He is not especially tanned but spends enough time outdoors that he isn’t pale. Karl stays fit and active, partly because he enjoys it and likes being healthy, partly to better pull off some cosplay options, partly because he likes the attention it can bring.  He has a number of small scars accumulated over life, along with a series of scars on his left thigh from a shark attack. Karl has an easy smile and typically has the opposite of ‘RBF’; a typically friendly expression that makes him easily approachable.



Personality:

Karl is easygoing and friendly, enjoying spending time with people but able to appreciate solitude to recharge sometimes. Though he considers himself pretty ‘normal’ he enjoys getting to know a variety of people, sometimes drawn to the quirky or ‘unusual’. Life is too short to totally restrict yourself to the already-familiar. He works hard and loves his work, not having hit the point yet where it burns him out, still happy to be able to turn it into a career.

Interests/hobbies/likes/dislikes/pet peeves:

Karl enjoys popular culture shows, movies, videogames especially sci-fi/fantasy/things with interesting settings. Aside from making costumes for others, he makes them for himself as well and enjoys going to conventions to cosplay and meet others with similar interests.

He stays fit with runs, gym time, swimming and surfing (after a break following shark attack). His time working with plays has given him an appreciation for plays in general and Shakespeare in particular. Initially taken up to help with his costuming, he has started playing around with using an airbrush for more conventional painting. He tries to be understanding and forgiving, but rudeness does bother him.

Background:

From an early age Karl loved stories that took you to other places with larger than life characters. He grew tired of pre-made Halloween costumes quickly and as soon as he was able was helping his parents create custom costumes, eventually taking over himself and making more throughout the year, wearing them around the neighborhood playing with friends, and Karl’s closet became a frequent stop for friends before they would all go out and play ‘Star Force meets the Dragons’ and other games.

He naturally fell into drama in school and camps, but any roles he had were minor as he spent much more time working on costumes and props. When he found out about cosplayers it blew his little mind and soon he was pestering his parents to take him to various conventions where he could wear his outfits and meet and talk with others with similar passions.

His skills continued to develop, and after graduation after building up his business at night while working day jobs he managed to make the transition to supporting himself through his costuming, selling to other cosplayers, people wanting fancy Halloween costumes, drag performers and others, though he also works carpentry jobs when opportunities come up or other things slow down.

Other:

Current costumes for himself on-hand – Gladiator, Viking, Mandalorian (a, not The), a couple different Thor outfits, Greek Hoplite, post-apocalypse survivor. He has a couple of longer-haired wigs he sometimes uses and can mish mash from several outfits and other spare pieces for making various barbarian or ‘realistic’ sci fi outfits (Star Wars smuggler, Firefly, etc.) and ordinary things like cowboy if needed.
