Ted Bear is one of the foremost experts on survival in harsh places, and several places which are not harsh. Legend says they once survived their own death by building a fatty cocoon around themselves and tricking death into killing that instead of them.

The legend is probably also eye-rollingly stupid, almost certainly false, and was probably spread by Ted Bear themselves.
