Commander Kamala Jade Stone was born to be in space - quite literally. Born in the Augustine system of Prefecture VII to then-Captain Marrok Stone and Strategic Diplomacy Corps envoy Katarina Mattlov in the middle of Operation Wingclip - the 12 Star Alliance's push to remove the Jade Falcons from the Inner Sphere - her first breath was drawn from the recycled air of her mother's ship, the Serinidad. Every step of her life since has been dedicated to fulfilling that destiny.

The Nirasaki Incident
Extensively covered in the Terran Republic news, both print and 'vid, late spring of 3160 found the Republic involved their first WarShip engagement in over a decade, when the TRS Voodoo - lead ship of the Terran Republic Navy's Voodoo-class destroyers - rumbled with the DCS Takashi, a Kirishima-class WarShip from the Draconis Combine.

Leapfrogging along their stretch of the Draconis Combine border in a routine patrol with its sister ship, the TRS Zeus, the Voodoo unexpectedly encountered the Takashi and its compliment of fighters at a jump point near Nirasaki, presumably preparing to engage in a cross-border raid in an attempt to provoke Republic hostilities against the Combine, not an uncommon happening as of late. What would have otherwise been a posturing standoff between the two similarly-armed and outfitted vessels immediately boiled over into actual combat when a pair of the Takashi's fighters unexpectedly slammed into the Voodoo's upper observation deck as it materialized.

The impact destroyed the observation deck, blew a hole in the hull of the Voodoo, and - most unfortunately - killed the Commodore and remainder of the ship's senior officer corps, who had been on the deck for a promotion party at the time, lulled into complacency by years of uneventful patrols. (Side note: This incident directly resulted in the Terran Republic Navy's current requirement that all senior officers be present on the bridge during hyperspace jumps, regardless of location or vessel.) Junior officer Lieutenant Commander Stone was - at the time - the Voodoo's pilot on deck in the bridge, and took command in the moment, successfully rallying the crew of the destroyer to fend off the Combine WarShip in an hour-long engagement while waiting for the Zeus to jump in alongside them. Faced with suddenly-overwhelming odds, the Takashi fled, leaving the Terran Republic Navy with its first WarShip victory since early 3150.

In the aftermath of the incident and the ensuing press coverage, the entire crew of the Voodoo received commendations and accolades, with Kamala receiving her own promotion to Commander - alongside a transfer. With her hand-picked crew, Commander Stone has since been assigned to Blackstar Alpha - not as a member of the team itself, but instead responsible for overseeing their travel and transport on the Eclipse, a Top Secret Prowler-class sub-compact WarShip of such highly-classified design and construction that the Blackstar team itself is unaware of precisely what they're traveling on, being moved to and from the vessel on windowless shuttles.

Thanks to spending the majority of her time in Zero-G where flowy fabrics and styles are more cumbersome than comfortable, Kamala has a penchant for snug, close-fitting attire. The predominant color of any outfit is always black or very dark grey, and unlikely to expose much skin at all beyond her hands and head, outside of social situations that require she wear something at least as formal as a cocktail dress.

Everything she owns is custom-tailored and of quality make, from leather jackets down to every last pair of high heels - and she doesn't own a pair of footwear that don't have high heels, save for one lonely pair of athletic shoes for begrudging trips to the gym. Even the boots that go with the sleek, high-necked, figure-hugging jumpsuit - usually worn with matching fingerless gloves and unzipped just enough to expose a narrow slice of cleavage - that is her 'business attire' on ship are crafted with wedge heels to add a few inches to her height. Kamala wears no visible jewelry on duty save for a narrow matte gold band on either her right thumb or forefinger, and while she leaves her shoulderlength hair loose when on the ground, keeps it pulled back into a low ponytail or tiny bun in Zero-G.

As shipboard culture dictates of non-Marines, she reserves wearing her sidearms for the occasional ground mission or imminent boarding actions, but when armed she wears a pair of Hawk Eagles, carried in thigh holsters supported by a belt loaded with extra clips.
