James Lawrence Clabyrne

THE BASICS
Name: James Lawrence Clabyrne

Nickname: Jamie

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Gender: Male

Age: 32

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Green

Distinguishing Marks: None

General Appearance: James is a man of average height and build. He's a reasonably attractive man, perhaps made slightly better-looking by the clothes he wears, which are unusually dapper compared to most. He has fairly short, wavy, brown hair and striking, emerald green eyes that usually sport a thoughtful look from under his bowler. He has a more or less permanent five o'clock shadow, never appearing completely clean-shaven, but likewise never allowing it to grow into an actual beard.

HISTORY
Occupation: Preacher

Personality: James is a kind man, warm and friendly to almost anyone unless they give him reason to behave otherwise. He is a gentleman, raised to observe proper etiquette and show respect to those who deserve it. He considers himself to be a humble man, and very often is. Occasionally, he can come across as arrogant or condescending when commenting on lifestyles different from his own, but it almost always out of ignorance, and seldom intentional.

Sexual Preferences: A gentleman doesn't discuss such things.

About Your character: James has never been the sort to make waves. Not at home, not in school, and not at work. He was a well-behaved child who followed rules, an A student, and has never been in trouble with the law. So when James and his family had a falling out as adults, it came as a bit of a shock to him. So much so that he packed up his meager belongings and set out West. Being raised in church every Sunday and believing firmly in God (which was part of the fight with his family), he was used to looking for signs from above regarding what he was meant to do in his life. So when his horse died unexpectedly a mile outside of Sweetwater, James took that as sign that this would be his new home.

Trained as a lawyer in Philadelphia, it was simple for James to find work in Sweetwater. Rarely did he actually have any need to appear in court, what with most criminal activity being cut and dry at the hands of the local sheriff, and most civil disputes being arbitrated in his office. Instead, James spent most of his time providing legal guidance, drafted necessary documents, and acting as a notary for the town.

It didn't take long for James to fall back into the habit of attending church every Sunday, and after a year or so, he was approached to become a Deacon of the church. He happily accepted, and has acted as a pillar of the community in that way for a handful of years. Recently, the preacher of the church has taken ill, and it was unanimously decided by all but James himself that he should take his place. While he hasn't committed to permanently taking the position, he has been the acting preacher for a few months at this point, and no one else has stepped up to express interest in the position.
