Robert Creighton

THE BASICS
Name: Robert Creighton, or just Rob for short

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Gender: Male

Age: 54

Hair: Black/Gray (more the latter than the former these days)

Eyes: Green

Distinguishing Features: Large scar on the outside of his right thigh, the source of the wound that has caused his pronounced limp.

General Appearance: A man of average height, slender physique, and a handsome face even in his advanced age, Robert tends to be both unassuming and worthy of a second glance all the same.  Despite his well-aged looks, what tends to draw people’s attention more often than not is the pronounced limp caused by a wound taken to his right thigh.  Though still capable of walking, running (with an odd gait), and even scaling trees, the limp is quite noticeable.  With an angular jawline, hawkish nose, groomed mustache, and skin aged like fine leather with only a few telltale creases and crows’ feet around the eyes, he could pass as a man a decade or so younger (and often does), so long as he wears a hat, which depends entirely on the weather.  His hands, too, are well calloused, often stained with grease.

Robert’s typical outfit consists of plain trousers, well-worn riding boots, and a white shirt worn beneath a rawhide leather vest.  When the weather is rough, he can be seen wearing an old duster, though he prefers to leave it at home whenever it is unneeded.  Most recognizable about Robert, however, are the pair of dull Colt Navy Revolvers worn on either hip, each with a blackened, well-worn grip.  Having served in the Civil War and worked as a Deputy prior to that, he has the credentials to back up their presence.

HISTORY
Occupation: Bodyguard, Gun for Hire (Veteran of the South, extensive career in law enforcement prior to the War)

Personality: A man of strong and pragmatic principles, Robert is often described as coarse but not impolite, and always a gentleman with women.  Though as sharp as ever with a pistol, these days Robert enjoys relaxation with a cold glass of whiskey in hand to rabblerousing with men half his age, although he is quick to utilize a firm voice, hand, and reputation to diffuse potential altercations – and makes it known that if pushed he will not back down from his principles.  Despite fighting for the South, Robert harbors no ill will toward the North for their victory, and seems to simply want to live his life, doling out nuggets of wisdom along the way.

Sexual Preferences: Heterosexual

About Your character: Robert Creighton is a simple man of his principles.  From a young age, he proved himself a skilled marksman and tree-climber hunting with his adoptive family after his father passed away in the war of 1812.  He grew up eager to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a man worthy of honor and respect.  In his then-hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, Robert began a career in law enforcement as a jailer, then later a deputy, until finally becoming a Sheriff of his own county to the north of Charleston proper.  He would go on to serve in the Civil War, fighting for the South as a Sharpshooter, a new breed of soldier small in number, but known for exceptional marksmanship and woodsman abilities.

Robert fought for the South not because of loyalty to the cause so much as loyalty to his home and his fellow solider, and his career in the Confederate Army was cut short in ’63 when he took a shot to the right thigh that put him out of action.  Though the wound healed, Robert would forever have a limp.  It was not serious enough to impact his nimble agility, only his ability to run marathons – even now in his 50s Robert remains ready to back up his claim of being able to climb any tree to its peak.  Since the war, however, he has had difficulty finding work with the Law due to the side he fought for (despite a respectable personal code).  Instead, he has made a living offering his still more than capable gun hand to caravans and carriages on the road as a guard, protecting them in an age of increased banditry during and following the war.  This work eventually brought him to Sweetwater, where he has been considering growing roots with his savings.
