Ryoko was a Trueborn Mechwarrior of Clan Smoke Jaguar. She grew up on Huntress in the warrior training Sibkos. There she trained everyday to pilot mechs, the history of her clan and the clans as a whole, how to fight and how it was all her right. At the end of her training she was able to secure the rank of Star Commander by getting two kills in her Blood Trail.

Unfortunately for her, Ryoko arrived in the Inner Sphere occupation zone in the middle of Operation Bulldog. On the planet she got to Ryoko was not even able to get a mech to pilot! She was pressed in as infantry. Ryoko knew no grater shame then being unable to fight for her clan as the Innersphere and traitor clans attacked. The unit she was in was smashed and scattered. Ryoko did not view herself as beaten. She did not even get into the controls of her mech. At first she started a solo operation of guerilla warfare. She came close to getting caught and dyeing many times but was able to escape.

It was during this time that through loud speakers and dropped holovids that she saw Smoke Jaguar lost a trail of Annihilation. She could not believe and felt lost. Still she could not bring herself to surrender. Ryoko cut her long black hair off and took what good she had liberated and used it and her labor to buy a way off the planet with a smuggler. She would later dye her hair in shame for not being able to fight more. Now she seeks what she has always: To become a Great Mechwarrior and in her heart she wants to one day avenge her Clan.
