Carys

Character Name: Carys Chamimbert, Daughter of Lord Peregrin Chamimbert
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Wild Magic Sorcerer
Age: 29

Physical Description: Carys is less a beautiful figure and more so a striking one. Her thick blonde hair tends to catch torchlight and sunlight, and her bright green eyes are in stark contrast to her pale and angular face. Her nose, eyes, and cheekbones show the sharp angles common among the fey, and the look is further accented by her pointed ears. Her lips are thinner than the popular plump look for young women prefer. She also has a large bust (much like the women on her father's side) and slim waist and modest hips (much like the women on her mother's side).

When Carys feels the need to accentuate her human side, she styles her hair with large braids and curls that soften the harsher edges of her face and cover her ears. She'll also paint lips and cheeks with rouge to look soft and plush, and favors fitted bodice and full skirts to balance out her top heavy frame.

When Carys feels the need to accentuate her elven side, she lets her hair fall straight with minimal adornment so her ears part her hair. Then her lips are left thin, and she puts stain in the hollows of her cheeks and on her brows to bring out the harsh edges. Lastly she wears a far more restrictive bodice and slim skirts to look more slight.

Yet the Arcanus Academia has had a peculiar impact on her sense of style. Carys opts for a fitted sleeve down to the wrist, rather than the large bell sleeves of current Ebrein courtly fashion, and her skirts aren't quite as voluptuous as they had been back home. Likewise, her hair is more often in more subdued styles that keep her locks from falling into an errant fireball. Perhaps spending years around the practical (and practically always penniless) wizards dampened her sense of fashion.

Or, if one were more charitable, lessened the strain of trying to look more human. After all, she was born a half-elf noblewoman in a kingdom who's war of independence is still in living memory of her elders.

Rumor Mill and Common Knowledge:
Carys's father is Lord Peregrine Chamimbert, who's a direct descendent of Lord Percivell Chamimbert. Lord Perciviell was one of the twelve lords of Ebrein who lead and won the Human War of Independence against the elves. That war was several generations ago, but the ripples of that conflict can still be felt today, especially by Perciviell's half-elven descendant.

Lord Perciviell's great grandson, Lord Peregrin, had five children: two girls and three boys in that order. Yet his wife, Lady Odette Beaumont, only bore four of them. Peregrin's second daughter, Carys, was born to an elven kitchen maid. Peregrin recognized and legitimized the child mere days after her birth, securing her place among his human children and society.

The exact nature of Peregrin and the elf servant's tryst and Carys's reputation by proxy, remains the subject of gossip. Well, gossip among those who love to speculate about such things, and only when Lady Chamimbert isn't within earshot.

The above is a portrait of Carys that hangs in a private art gallery in Ebrein. The portrait was commissioned for by a patron of a young human painter. It is part of an art series aimed at depicting the younger Ebrein nobles. There is some quiet speculation as to why the painter specifically excluded Carys's pointed ears and deepened her hair from white-gold to honey.
