Ellidah

Name: Ellidah
Age: Indeterminate (equivalent to human 20s in appearance)
Gender: Non-binary (they/them pronouns)
Sexuality: Undecided, possibly fluid
Occupation: Creepy Adventurer for Hire

Personality: Ellidah comes across as being an erratic, possibly even dangerously insane individual. While they lean towards the light-hearted and pleasant, there are depths to their personage that are dark and old. Sometimes they appear young in manner, revelling in every new experience, and at others they seem ancient and gnarled, in spirit if not body.

They make no secrets of their nature as a Hexblood and the hag's power they carry. To them this is just one part of the gloriously messy whole that makes up their personality. However, there is no doubt that their time in their adoptive parent's home has affected their development.

Description: Many might consider Ellidah an unusual subtype of Tiefling lacking a tail. They have deep purple skin, black curly hair fading to a pinky-purple at the ends, sharp triangular teeth and a crown of pointed horns emerging around their brow. Their eyes have an odd milky hue that makes them appear as if they suffer from bad cataracts, but they can see perfectly well. Long tapering ears ending in double points are adorned with hoops and rings, all of them gold.

It is impossible to tell what species Ellidah used to be. Whatever they were, they are a Hexblood now.

Character Model: See right.

Brief History: Ellidah had a different name once but they can't remember that now. Stolen as a young child by a malicious Hag, Lukreth, whom their village had slighted, Ellidah was the prettiest and most beloved child in the community. Perfect for the Hag's needs, they grew up in a tiny place hidden deep within a swamp; whether it was a pocket dimension or simply a well-concealed dell, Ellidah doesn't know. They were happy, for the most part, growing up amongst nature and learning about the wonders of their small pocket of the world. Lukreth was a strange guardian but only rarely a cruel one.

Once, when they were nearing their teenage years, Ellidah sought out the village from whence they had come. After all, they were no Hag, so they had to come from somewhere. Alas, Ellidah's appearance had changed so thoroughly that there was no hope of anyone recognising them. Greyish-purple skin and a crown of living bone protruding from their curls gave them the aspect of a monster, and eyes filled with grey looked as if they should be blind. They fled back to Lukreth from the terror and hatred of the villagers, vowing never to return. It was a child's vow, of course, but words have power to the Fey.

Ellidah is uncertain how many years passed thereafter. Time seemed to slow down and simultaneously speed up, a sensation that at times was almost like vertigo but usually was simply How Things Were, and when the time came to leave their home, they found the village was nothing but ancient rubble, hundreds or maybe even thousands of years old.

They did not leave under good circumstances. Lukreth grew more malevolent as Ellidah's natural rebellious streak came to the fore, as was normal for most children transitioning to adulthood. The harder Ellidah pushed to be allowed to leave, the more restrictive and watchful Lukreth grew. Finally the dam broke and Lukreth attempted to kill Ellidah, but she had put too much of her power into them over the years and the Hexblood escaped with their skin - and will - intact.

Ellidah knows, with the understanding that goes bone deep, that one day they must face Lukreth again. They do not know if that shall be as friends, as family or as mortal enemies, but it is their doom to meet their strange Fey guardian again one day. Since the chance of the meeting being hostile is rather high, they are gathering what power to themselves that they can.

Since leaving, Ellidah has roamed Exandria, doing odd jobs and making a name for themselves. Finding their way to Nicodranas, they have been attempting to stay out of trouble with mixed success, learning about the natural landscape as best they can.
