She would describe herself as everyday and practical in her appearance and demeanor. She wears subtle makeup most of the time, and her jewelry tends not to be too ostentatious. She has no tattoos or scars.

Clothing/Gear:
Ash has little to her name at this point. She is wearing jeans with some wear on them. She has a gray top and an overshirt she keeps tied around her waist. Her only shoes are a pair of Nike sneakers. For jewelry, she wears a fine chained gold necklace with a small gold heart pendant, a gold and sapphire pinky ring, and her wedding set. Strapped to her leather belt she carries a work knife.

1 wristwatch that belonged to her husband
1 pr. Diamond stud earrings. She doesn't wear them because of the living conditions
1 compact 9mm and a box of ammo she never had to fire

Personality:
Much like her appearance, Ash is very practical, preferring to avoid drama or engaging in gossip. Always friendly, she is not not shy and likes to be social. She is not judgemental and tries to see the best in people. When engaged, she can be chatty, but won't insert herself into a conversation that doesn't involve her. Ash is very high energy, and she does not procrastinate. She also acts decisively, which sometimes had unintended consequences.
She does have a dark side, being fascinated by violence and danger, but she tries to suppress it. Unfortunately it does leak out on occasion, and mixed with her energetic spontaneity, it has led her to some trouble.

History:
Just before the outbreak, Ashleigh Thompson was an investigative reporter for the Arizona Republic, originally she held a much more high profile position in Washington DC.

Ashleigh got her degree from the George Washington University School of journalism near Washington DC, and worked for the politics desk at the Washington Post. After her second child was born she found it too stressful juggling her career with the responsibilities of motherhood. When she tried to shift away, the adrenaline dragged her back. When her husband he took a lead position at an E.R. in Phoenix, she used the opportunity to break away.

At first, Ash tried to just be a stay at home mom. While rewarding, she still felt the pull to do more. A year later, she basically walked into a job at the Arizona Republic, but it took her some time to convince them to let her take local stories instead of national political news. Phoenix crime and local politics kept her busy, but it still wasn't enough.

The spark she needed ended up being a fellow journalist named Klaine Baxter. He was a handsome and dynamic political reporter with a great reputation for his journalism and his professionalism. He approached her, seeking help on a political scandal involving the state Attorney General. When he presented his research, she was already hooked. With only token resistance, she agreed to assist after some just as token coaxing. Ash and Klaine maintained a strictly professional relationship, but the story took as many hours as they would give it. Soon, she found herself spending more time with him than her family. That was when the outbreak struck Phoenix.

Ash and Klaine holed up in a Phoenix hotel during the initial upheaval. Communications were erratic and she couldn't get in contact with her family. After a few nights, she and Klaine went too far. The next day, Ash was consumed by guilt and anxiety over the affair. Despite the persistent danger, she rushed too her home out in the suburbs. Dodging the rampant perils, it took two days to get there. When she arrived, she found that the entire neighborhood was in ruins and her own home was burned to the ground. Her family was nowhere to be found.

Ash went back to Phoenix, desperate for Klaine's help, but when she got there, he was gone as well. Her world deteriorated around her, both physically and emotionally. She could have just found a shelter and survived, but instead she chose to pack a bag and find her family.
