Art (Sculpting)

Matt was a rising star in the art world for his use of interesting metals in his abstract and thought provoking sculptures. He was given access to an experimental alloy for use in a commissioned piece that was to grace the front of City Hall. The alloy was affected by energy at a quantum level, allowing it to change elemental forms with a controlled application of power. As Matt was working in his studio, he was attacked by the supervillian Toyman – the gadgeteer inventor who’s devices all took the form of various toys. Toyman stole the alloy, and Matt was injured by a ricochet of energy from Toyman’s Lazertag gun that bounced off the alloy and bathed Matt in refracted radiation. The incident left Matt with some of the alloy’s chameleon properties and he found himself with the ability to alter non living matter on a quantum level to change things into different metals with just a touch.

His first instinct was to use this ability to make himself rich, which he did but was quickly visited by agents of the government who convinced him to use his new abilities for something other than personal enrichment. They trained him in basic combat and anti terror tactics, helped him hone his control of his powers, and teach him the basics of fighting superpower crime. The superhero Alloy was born.
