Sylvan, also called Shiv, is a Tycherosi refugee.

She's on the smaller end and looks almost waifish, like she didn't get enough food when she was a child and it's taken it's toll on her development.  Her features are youthful, and if you don't see her eyes she almost looks like your typical fair skinned Akorosi.  Once her eyes are seen, the rest of the slight oddities of her appearance slips into being and she seems otherworldly.

Shiv's eyes are wrong.  Her sclera are are exactly opposite of the normal white - instead, they're an inky black with faint silver lines for the veins.  Her iris is a stark contrast to her sclera and is light in color.  Something almost white but when light finds it, it shimmers like an opal.  The expression in her eyes is another thing entirely.  She looks haunted.  Her eyes are wide and watchful, always cataloging her surroundings.

Once you've noticed that, it becomes more obvious that her veins that sit near the surface have a similar silvery color as the ones in her eyes.  Her fair skin begins to look almost too fair - nearly translucent in the rare moments of bright light.

Her hair is raven black, long, and thick.  She usually keeps it braided or pulled into a tail to keep it out of her way.

She dresses plainly and without much color or flair.  Modest dresses when appropriate and needed, otherwise she's in simple loose fitting pants and unadorned tunic tops.  The size of her clothes seems to enhance her waifish and childish appearance.  One of the only truly unique things is a silver band she wears on her right thumb.  When she's anxious or bored, she can be seen fiddling with it, removing it from her thumb and sliding it onto other fingers or just twisting it on her thumb.  It seems to be an unconscious action, and when attention is called to it, she stops - only to start up a few moments later when her attention wanes.
