Arend von Gerach

Arend von Gerach is a handsome young nobleman of unknown origin. He is closed mouth about where his family hails from, and what he did before undertook his current endeavor. That he is an aristocrat is obvious, not just from his tailored clothing and impeccable manners, but his bearing is one of someone used to having their every command obeyed. Whatever his heritage, what cannot be denied that even if he wasn't of noble blood, he was founding a new line at this very moment. Despite the dangers of the Savage Frontier, Arend has carved out a small kingdom for himself on the high summit of the Greypeak Mountains.

Despite the desolate conditions, and less than beautiful surrounding countryside, Arend seems more concerned with the defensive position of his castle, rather than the view from his balcony. More than a hundred men and women proudly serve under his banner, which is quite the accomplishment for so rugged and individualistic a region that resists self-proclaimed rulers. And for one so young, that is almost unprecedented. Those that might criticize this young would-be princling cannot deny that lands under his rule are bereft of Goblins, Orcs, and bandits. One day he hopes to claim the whole region for himself, but that is for the future.

For now, Arend is content to secure his castle and territory against the dangers of the wider world, plans of conquest to follow only when he has enough soldiers and peasants to justify such a move. When not making plans for the future, or ruling from his opulent throne room, Arend can be found in his library, reading long into the night. What he is searching for, he will not say. But he is always preoccupied by some other grand design that his soldiers are not privy too.
