Born in the Kingdom of León, Longinus would receive an excellent education. He would also travel throughout both the Muslim and Christian regions of the Iberian Peninsula.   When Longinus was 8 he would accidently be trapped within a Fearie regio after falling into a fountain. The Xana - who inhabited the regio – refused to lead him out if he didn’t tell her a story. The xana was so pleased with his performance that she blessed him to always enchant others with his stories.

At the age of 10 Longinus would be taken into the arms of Anaruz of Merinita. Anaruz was a prominent member of the Keepers of the Thousand Tales Society and would focus much of Longinus apprenticeship on traveling the Muslim regions and teaching him Arabic.

Longinus would also spend much of his apprenticeship translating stories from Arabic to Latin. It was during this time Longinus fell in love with the numerous stories, legends and rich culture of the Arabic world. Longinus would also come in contact with the Sahirs and Berbers during this time.

Longinus would fully adopt the societies mission as his own and became quite fixated with the varied stories of the Muslim world. After taking his Gauntlet in 1219, Longinus jumped at the opportunity to join the expedition to Africa.
