Description
Giovanni has dark hair and eyes, is 20 years old, and blends in well in the cosmopolitan centers of the coastal cities, both in Italy and North Africa. He usually wears the clothes of a foreign merchant, but always of wool and leather. As he becomes comfortable in North Africa, he will probably dress more like a native.

Background
Giovanni was meant for great things. He was born into the Mercere "family," from a long line of exploring Redcaps. His family all had a knack for languages, sometimes expressed as a linguist, sometimes as the "Gift of Tongues." They are all expected to use their gifts to explore the unknown at the edge of the Order's territory, and beyond.
He learned his trade working with his older uncle, who had a route within the Roman Tribunal. In general he knows where to find the Covenants, and what each of them want in trade. He was also sent, with appropriate equipment, including magic, to explore the potential sites for a Tribunal of Northern Africa. His mandate was specifically to go as far as possible, but to beware of going too far south in the desert.
Giovanni did his part to find covenant sites in North Africa. Of course he didn't do it alone, but he did go farther than most. He may act as guide in bringing the colonizing mages south.
