Nicodemus Trask

Doctor Trask was born somewhere in the Zarushagar Sector. Of Darmine extraction, he was heavily influenced by the Code of Ledriasda and decided to pursue a career in medicine, so he could help people. His intellect was recognized at an early age; admission to the University was easy. The freedom of being away from home and surrounded by peers with similar attitude lead young Nicodemus to party as much as study.
He continued his studies and began practice as a Physician. One of his research projects, concerning the genetic-dependent risks in longevity treatments, uncovered a previously unknown genotype that would prevent certain anagathics from performing. A prestigious prize was awarded his study, but the scholars around him politicized his research and sabotaged any chance he had of earning a promotion. This soured him on a career in research, and he resolved to try something new.
Having seen the Imperial Navy on maneuvers so often (Zarushagar was popular with the Navy) inspired him to join it. He was commissioned almost immediately, and the Navy decided he could best serve them as... a physician. He finally moved his residence from Schmidt (Zarushagar sector) to Keplo (Core sector) so as to distance himself from Darminian malcontents. In truth, he was undertaking a political maneuver of his own and did manage a promotion. Nicodemus has no respect for politics, and he decided not to continue his military career. He exited the service as sublieutenant.
Someone on Keplo noticed his talent and abilities, and recruited Dr. Trask to serve the people of Eorvin. The colony had a small amount of infrastructure, and Nicodemus found himself driving a mobile med-bay to where he was needed. It was a productive time, and reminded Dr. Trask of his original intent. He learned a great deal about maintaining the heavy vehicle he drove throughout the colony, and managed to see medical issues he hadn't seen before, as well. It was hard work, however, and just as he was given an official position in the colony a new physician arrived. Given the chance, Dr. Trask left the colony and position behind to look for a less intense working environment.
It was this search that turned up the position on The Old Lady's Hope.
