Dombrovsky's grandfather immigrated from the Soviet Union in the aftermath of WWII. Raised in the Russian emigre community surrounding Baltimore, he was an intelligent and philosophical boy but a mediocre student. Upon graduating high school, Dombrovsky took some community college classes and worked odd jobs, still not quite sure of what to do with his life. Most of his weekends were spent bar hopping and trying to pick up women, or sometimes boating or hunting. Although lacking any specific ambition, a friend of his convinced him that they should sign up for the Marine Reserves to earn some extra money, where he became a LAV-25 driver and then gunner. With the advent of hostilities in Europe, he was called up and assigned to the 2nd MarDiv.

Dombrovsky tries to maintain something approaching a standard uniform, wearing woodland BDUs and sporting a patrol cover or boonie hat and ALICE gear. His only heavy jacket however is a DPM smock from a trade with a British soldier. He has blue eyes and dark brown hair which he keeps fairly high and tight, and wears a mustache.
