Life does not go in straight lines. After college, Tom had a great job as a research doctor in Chicago. Day in, day out, Tom was in the laboratory working on things to save humanity. Eventually, Tom realized the goal was not to save humanity but to make the greatest profit. That is when he hung up his lab coat.

Tom became a Maine Guide and a part-time paramedic back in his home state. He had the feeling that he was helping people directly and definitely not because of the money.  He tried to stay out of the political happenings but fate caught up with him later in the war. Regarding the war, he is not a big fan but tries to help where he can.
