Appearance:  Distinctive in appearance, even for a water genasi, Pearl tends to dress in utilitarian clothing that allows for freedom of movement and is reminiscent of the sea:  slop-
style pantaloons, vests, and either shirtless or with a swordsman shirt, boots on land and barefoot on deck, and often with a round-brim hat toggled
into a tricorn, over a cloth headband
with a leather monastic emblem upon it.  He seems to always have his belt with
pouches and loops full of carpenters'
tools and a sewing kit with him.  Though he claims to be a simple
tradesman who likes to make people and
children smile, there is something
about the graceful way he moves, the
way he seems to stare through people
with sadness and determination in his
aquamarine eyes, and the callouses of
his hands, that says he has seen and
caused bloodshed.
History:  The son of the head of a well-known Aglarondan shipyard, and an experienced ship captain from a well-regarded merchant family, Delmar Jaerred found a way to follow in the footsteps of both mother and father:  After apprenticing as a shipwright, he chose to take to the sea aboard a merchant ship as the resident carpenter's mate.  It was a job that he loved.
However, Delmar's ship and crew were attacked and murdered and destroyed by a renowned dread pirate captain known as The Shark of the Inner Sea, or The Great White Shark, who apparently had allied with a city of rogue sahuagin.  Unbeknownst to all, this dread pirate captain is actually Delmar's uncle, who went to sea after losing proprietorship of the family shipyard to his brother, Delmar's father.  Believed lost at sea in a bad storm, in reality, he had turned to piracy.  Delmar barely managed to escape.
Delmar set out back home to Aglarond, only to find the shipyard destroyed, and his parents killed, by a sahuagin attack about the same time his ship and crew were.  He gathered a group of adventurers and set out to find his uncle and get his revenge.  However, he eventually realized he would not be able to fight through the Great White's formidable fleet, and, instead, went back to Aglarond to provide information upon the pirate's hideout to the Navy.  With his companions, Delmar joined the naval fleet sent to capture his uncle and destroy his fleet.
After several hard won battles, The Great White was eventually captured, and taken back to Aglarond for trial and execution.  His twin younger brother and sister had already gathered money and help from other family members to begin the rebuilding of the family shipyard.  But, to Delmar, the damage was too extensive, and he could not go back to his life at sea, ir work in the shipyard.  Because of this, he has moved inland and taken the name of Pearl, where he hopes to live his life helping others.
